This is that ...

On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came...

Many Jews were confused and marveled, “Whatever can this mean?”

Then Peter standing up raised his voice and began to speak. “These are not drunk as you suppose...but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel...” (Acts 2:16)

This is that... is a resource to reveal, and give light to scripture...by comparing scripture to scripture. Only God can reveal God. Only His Spirit can “guide us into all truth.” (John 16:13)

Faith Class 101: Class 11

THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Helper — Commissioned to Help You in All of Life

He is authorized to be your Companion and remain with you forever!
He is your personal Advocate, Champion, Defender, Supporter, Promoter and Stand-by. He will always lead you in how to triumph! He has His part. You have your part also.

Jesus said it was to our advantage that He go away.
Why?

He would send another who would be within us forever.

When you are engaged in conflict with the enemy, always remember to go inward and follow the leading and direction of the Holy Spirit, for He is the power source.

The Helper is also the One who strengthens us. He is the one we rely on to:
  • Stand against the wiles of the devil.
  • Having done all…to stand.
  • And to continue to stand.

WARFARE, ENGAGEMENT, AND VICTORY!
The Helmet of Salvation: Take it! (Ephesians 6:17)
How do I take it? Act on your salvation rights! Speak, confess the scriptures. Fight the good fight; cast out demons. You’re a citizen of Heaven and commissioned with authority to use the name of Jesus!

Helmet: encirclement of the head, defensive covering for the head, deliverance for those who are engaged in spiritual conflict
Salvation: to save, rescue, welfare, prosperity, deliverance, preservation, safety

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT?
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)

THOUGHTS
It takes strength to renew your mind to God’s Word because it takes daily discipline and diligence to study on a continual basis. If a Believer’s thought life has not been in the habit of being controlled, or kept in check, this exercise of taking every thought captive can be like a cowboy trying to round up a herd of wild mustangs.

THE BOUNCER AT THE DOOR
Popular clubs in Hollywood employ a guard or a bouncer, someone who is a big, strong, brawny-type man to stand at the door. It’s his job to only allow those who are invited or have paid to go inside.

The bouncer controls who comes in. Not everyone is free to come through the door.

Likewise, we cannot be fully effective in our position of ruling and reigning in Christ Jesus if we allow every thought to come in and play around in our mind.

You have the mind of Christ, and your thought life must follow His high standards.
What you watch, what you listen to, and what you meditate on must go through the Mighty Bouncer, the Living Word!

Does this thought line up with scripture? No? Then, “Get out! Stay out!”

Lies, Deception, Fear, and Threats
The god of this age has blinded the minds of those who do not believe, but he has no right to blind the mind of a Christian!

Yet, he is an outlaw and a deceiver and a persistent foe.
He has no right but a thief never follows the rules.
He does however bow to the name of Jesus and the use of all our weapons.

Keep your helmet of salvation on and release the mighty sword of the Spirit, which is the all-powerful Word of God coming out of your mouth.

The Holy Spirit is our mighty, ever-present companion that will always lead us to triumph over the schemes of the devil.

Remember who you are, and what you have been given.
That’s what Jesus did when satan questioned Him. “If you are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.” (Matthew 4:3)

This is that...which Jesus used against His enemy.
“But He answered and said, ‘It is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”’”

You can’t use the Word as a sword if you don’t know the scriptures.
And if your mind is not renewed continually, they will fade away!

Faith Class 101: Class 10

After everyone was seated the Professor said today we will study about an important subject that affects your life: The will of God for you!

There are basically four “wills” that are operating in the earth realm that you need to be aware of.
1.   The deceptive will of the devil and his schemes.
2.   The reasoning will of the flesh that is contrary to spiritual things. (Romans 8:4-8)
3.   The will of man.
4.   The divine will of God.

“Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit...."
(Ephesians 5:17-18)

GOD’S WILL: BE FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT!

This is not a once in a life-time event. We could say, “be...being filled” with the Holy Spirit throughout your life on earth.

Why?
Because you leak! Just like the gas tank in your car is continually using up fuel and needs to be replenished, you also need daily refueling. You know this but doing it is another story! Spending time with Father in the Holy Scriptures, in prayer, and in praying in the Spirit are necessary to living in God’s will, especially during these ending perilous times just before the return of Jesus in the air.

KNOW THIS ABOUT WHO YOU ARE IN CHRIST
The re-created spirit of man is God’s home.

You were made in God’s image, according to His likeness. (Genesis 1:26)

The real revelation of who you are is this: you are a speaking spirit!
(In Genesis 2:7 the word for breath is the same word for spirit.)

You have creative ability in your mouth. “... (God) Who gives life to the dead and speaks of the nonexistent things that [He has foretold and promised] as if they [already] existed.”
(Romans 4:17 AMPC)

Notice God calls things that do not exist as though they were seen already. Abraham, and all who knew him, were also calling this old man with no children, “father of many nations.” Words change things for good or for bad. (See Matthew 12:31-37)

Jesus gave us the authority to speak to those things we want removed. If we believe we receive when we pray, it will come to pass for us. (Mark 11:22-26)

God gave us authority in the earth. “...have dominion...subdue...” (Genesis 1:26-28)

THE POWER OF THANKFULNESS
In order to stay in the will of God you must learn the discipline of staying thankful no matter what is happening in the world. Make a habit of saying throughout your day...  "Thank you LORD for this...” or “Thank you LORD for answering that prayer....”

A grateful heart needs to express itself to its Creator!
Gratitude will change a grumpy attitude!

THE POWER OF SUBMISSION
A grateful heart is a submissive heart.
The spiritual attributes, thankfulness and submission, are to be developed. They can remold your character. Submission begins with humility, knowing that all that we are in Christ and all we can do to establish God’s Kingdom come from Him...as we are willing to be transformed into His image...from glory to glory. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

These things are important because they support your faith. And that pleases God.
The overcoming faith-filled life is a life submitted to God.

In fact, without submission to Him you can’t resist the devil!

“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says:
‘God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.’
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:6-7)

This is that...which was a problem for the disciples.
“And wherever it (the devil) seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.” (Mark 9:18)

Faith Class 101: Class 9

The Professor wrote this on the white board as the last student entered the class and sat down: THE CORE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

Then He began to teach:
Right standing with God is an absolute foundation in who you are in Christ. It encompasses everything you are. At the core of this knowledge is the anointing.

What is the anointing?
John answered. “The anointing destroys yokes and removes burdens.” (Isaiah 10:27)

Yes, that is correct. It is the power of God to set people free from the law of sin and death. What law are you now to abide in, John? “Is it the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus?” (Romans 8:2)
Yes! And in Christ Jesus that means you partake of His anointing where there is no condemnation against you.

Class, this is vital information for you to understand and acknowledge every day because the strong pull of the world is going the wrong way. Overcome this opposition by renewing your mind to scripture. It will keep you connected to God's Kingdom and power.

FAITH AND YOUR POTENTIAL
In our last class we talked about how righteousness empowers your potential to carry out your assignment on earth. Why? When you see yourself as God sees you, sin consciousness and unworthiness will have no hold on you.

You can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens you.
You can’t accept this righteousness without faith.

Faith in God must be believed so that your potential can be unleashed and you can be all that God says you are. It is by faith that God’s grace can release the Kingdom of God that is within you to DO the impossible — like heal the sick.

There is no end to this potential.

CREATIVE FAITH AND DOMINATING FAITH
CREATIVE FAITH:

Creative faith brought the universe into being.

God had a desire to build a home for mankind: EARTH! He spoke what He wanted and faith (substance of things hoped for) brought it into the seen realm. He began with “Let there be light, and there was light.” See Hebrews 11:1-3 and Genesis 1:3.

JESUS RELEASED CREATIVE FAITH
“Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet, and He healed them.” (Matthew 15:29)

Notice the maimed were made whole. That means a man with a missing leg now had a healthy leg to walk on!

Notice, five thousand hungry men plus women and children were fed from five loaves of bread and two small fishes...“they all ate and were filled,” and had twelve baskets of leftovers. (Mark 6:30-44)

Jesus went to the tomb of His friend and said, “Lazarus, come forth!” (John 11:43) A body beginning to decompose became a man completely well enough to walk out of his tomb!

DOMINATING FAITH:
Jesus spoke to a horrific wind storm that was about to sink the boat that He and His disciples were in. He rebuked the wind by speaking directly to it. Then Jesus said, “Peace, be still!” (Mark 4:39) And there was a great calm.

Gideon was a man raised under the captivity of an evil nation wondering why he was not seeing the mighty hand of God bring justice against their enemies. “The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!” said the Angel of the LORD. (Judges 6:12)

Gideon received this word and experienced the power of God to dominate and defeat his enemies! Gideon became what God spoke and delivered Israel from oppression. Accepting his assignment released his full potential. He dominated the enemy by faith in God!

Righteousness, Faith, Your Potential, and Your Anointing
Don’t allow the world to dictate your potential in Christ.
Don’t let other people smother what God has for you to accomplish during these end days. The world can’t hold a candle to what you can do.
They are limited with human achievement...human abilities.
Walk and think like Jesus.
He walked on the sea!

This is that...which a fisherman did!
“Come. ‘And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.’” (Matthew 14:29)
