This is that ...

On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came...

Many Jews were confused and marveled, “Whatever can this mean?”

Then Peter standing up raised his voice and began to speak. “These are not drunk as you suppose...but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel...” (Acts 2:16)

This is that... is a resource to reveal, and give light to scripture...by comparing scripture to scripture. Only God can reveal God. Only His Spirit can “guide us into all truth.” (John 16:13)

Holy Brethren,
The longer I endeavor to seek the LORD and learn from Him, the more evident it is to me that everything I am has its foundation in my heart, which is the newly created spirit man, born from above, the temple of His Holy Spirit.

Jesus put it this way, “out of his heart will flow rivers of living water, but this He spoke concerning the Holy Spirit.” Our glorious Helper and Teacher is the One who anoints us to do far more than we can on our own. In fact, we can do nothing of value without Him.

With that in mind, let’s do a brief study on taking Communion.

Communion is not a monthly ritual with little meaning, but rather vitally important to the life of a Believer. It is a matter of the heart. And when celebrated with other Believers, it is a community experience that unites God with His children in a special way, releasing all His benefits.

It should not be entered into with trivial regard. If taking Communion has little meaning to you, you are beginning to slip away from your first love. (Revelation 2:4)

The Heart of a Betrayer
“One of you will betray Me.” (John 13:10-11)
Jesus washed the feet of His betrayer. Later, during the Passover Meal, Jesus shared a piece of bread with Judas. Then satan entered into His disciple. “What you do, do it quickly.”
  • The Passover Meal was a worthless gathering to Judas.
  • During the meal, his thoughts were focused on something else, how to sneak out of the upper room.
  • He had an appointment to keep.

Judas loved money.
His heart was empty of the love for God and for others. Judas heard the Words of the Kingdom as he lived with Jesus for three years, yet The Word did not prosper him, not being mixed with faith. (Hebrews 4:2)

What you seek after, or what is number one in your life, reveals what is hidden in your heart.

The Heart of a Believer
A thankful heart of love, and surrender to the One who took your place of punishment, must be the focus of the Believer’s attention while taking Communion.

The true reason for Communion:
Jesus Christ so loved you that He gave His life for you.

Nothing can even come close to this kind of love. Nothing!

Jesus is what our hearts embrace during Holy Communion.

The Book of 1 Corinthians is an amazing letter that is full of revelation knowledge. Along with that, however, correction was needed because of Believers who hadn't grown up and were still acting like babies. “For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?” (1 Corinthians 3:3)

These same actions carried over into how they were taking Communion. Behaviors such as pushing ahead of each other to eat, getting drunk, division and factions are all conduct that begins within an immature self-centered heart.

“For anyone who eats and drinks without discriminating and recognizing with due appreciation that [it is Christ’s] body, eats and drinks a sentence (a verdict of judgment) upon himself. That [careless and unworthy participation] is the reason many of you are weak and sickly, and quite enough of you have fallen into the sleep of death.
“For if we searchingly examined ourselves [detecting our shortcomings and recognizing our own condition], we should not be judged and penalty decreed [by the divine judgment]. (1 Corinthians 11:29-31 AMP)

Discerning the Brethren— Discerning the Lord’s Body
The Glorious Church!

“Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.”
(1 Corinthians 12:27)

“There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord.
And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all …” (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)

 “… there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.” (1 Corinthians 12:25)

Forgiving others quickly is a requirement for members of Christ’s body. It’s not a choice.

“For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:12-13)

This is that...
"For in fact the body is not one member but many.”
(1 Corinthians 11:25)

The Professor said, “Today, I have a prophetic message for you to read and meditate on from the Holy Scriptures.

“Ask the Lord for rain
In the time of the latter rain.
The Lord will make flashing clouds;
He will give them showers of rain,
Grass in the field for everyone.” (Zechariah 10:1)

“After two days He will revive us;
On the third day He will raise us up,
That we may live in His sight.
Let us know,
Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord.
His going forth is established as the morning;
He will come to us like the rain,
Like the latter and former rain to the earth.” (Hosea 6:2-3)

“Sow for yourselves righteousness;
Reap in mercy;
Break up your fallow ground,
For it is time to seek the Lord,
Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.” (Hosea 10:12)

"Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain." (James 5:7)

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE END DAYS CHURCH
The teachers of Jesus’ day were given a severe rebuke because they refused to be open to what God was doing in sending His Son as their Messiah. They did not have ears to hear or eyes to see...their hearts were not open to what God was doing in their day.

“Hypocrites! You can discern the appearance of the sky and of the earth; but how is it that you do not discern this time?”
(Luke 12:56)

Definition of Discern: detect; perceive; observe; notice; see

In like manner, many of our Pastors and teachers are stuck in tradition and are not revealing to the Body of Christ the season that we are in. Traditions of men will always try to block or make void what the Spirit of God is saying or doing.

Jesus called them hypocrites because it was “the time of their visitation” and they knew it not.

There is a season on earth before the return of the LORD that is vitally important to our Father.  It has to do with the “harvest of the nations,” just before the great day of the LORD’S wrath being poured out. (Joel Chapter 2)

"But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.  For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ... "
(1 Thessalonians 5:4-9
)

Let us not be as the Pharisees and Sadducees who closed their eyes and their ears denying God’s will and purpose. Let us not allow the world and all its evil ways of seduction to pull us off course.

You were chosen by God and given an assignment to fulfill. It’s the reason you were born on earth at this time.

Seek the LORD daily. Have eyes to see and ears that hear. Your eternal rewards are at stake!

This is that...which Jesus said.
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.” (Revelation 2:7)

Faith Class 101: Class 12

Let’s continue to learn about the Holy Spirit who lives in you and His roll in building The Church.

“...I will build My Church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:18-19)

The building of The Glorious Church, of which you are a member, relies on powerful keys from the Heavenly Kingdom.

Born again people of God are Kingdom Citizens who have the Ministry of Reconciliation. All assignments, all ministry gifts go back to this core principal.

“Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:18-19)

God did not send us out on assignment without a supply from His Kingdom.
That supply is called the anointing or power of God, and it is resident in God’s Spirit who abides within you. There is so much to say about this glorious Person, the Holy Spirit.

His primary function is the Builder of The Church...through us! One cannot be born again without Him. (John 3:1-8)

Jesus’ Departure from Earth—Our Advantage?
When Jesus walked the earth He helped many people. But when the crowds went home, they went home without Him.

We’re different! The Holy Spirit filled our inner man on the day of our new birth. You and I were born of Him. We will never be an orphan again and we will never be alone. He’s there with us in every step we take, in every part of this life. He is forever undeniably faithful to us. He will always help us and lead us into triumph and victory…if we’ll hear and obey.

And when we make mistakes, He is there to guide us back into close fellowship with the Father. (1 John 1:9)

THE BAPTIZER
"I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matthew 3:11)

When you receive Him as the Baptizer with fire, His might is released in you. “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you…” (Acts 1:5, 1:8, and Acts 2:1-4)

The Greek word for power is dunamis.
This is where we get the word dynamite from. Think of the Holy Spirit as the all-mighty power Source that can blast demons to flee in fright as you speak out with authority using the name of Jesus!

Put on God’s Armor!
God’s armor is given to us for power, protection and advancement!
Holy Spirit and The Word of God is the sword of the Spirit. (Ephesians 6:17)

His initial indwelling when you were born again is increased and expanded when you get baptized in Him and speak in tongues. (Acts 19:1-7) Trying to explain this Baptism in the Holy Spirit is hard to put into words but one word came to my mind, “volumized.” This was not found in my dictionary.

But the word voluminous is.
It means: of great volume; large; extensive; abundance; sizable; massive—which makes one wonder how God can squeeze Himself into the spirit of man? Just a bit of humor there...

WORKINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
The Revealer—John 16:1-15
Jesus said, of God’s Spirit:
He convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.
He is the Revealer of truth and will guide us into all truth.
He speaks only what He hears.
He reveals things to come.
He will glorify Jesus, for He takes what belongs to Jesus and gives it to us!

This is that...which Peter explained to the people:
"This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.” Acts 2:32-33

Never been baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues?
You don’t want to live out your race without this. (Read Acts 19:1-6.)

It’s easy to receive. Pray this prayer:
“Father God, I come to you in Jesus name. I thank you that I am born again. You said in Your word, ‘If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!’ (Luke 11:13)
I am asking you LORD to fill me with the Holy Spirit, rise up within me as I praise God.
I fully expect to speak with other tongues as You give me utterance.”

Begin to praise God with all your heart and release what you sense in your heart, not your head...let those sounds come forth. As you develop, you’ll gain confidence, just like a young child learning to talk.
