This is that ...

On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came...

Many Jews were confused and marveled, “Whatever can this mean?”

Then Peter standing up raised his voice and began to speak. “These are not drunk as you suppose...but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel...” (Acts 2:16)

This is that... is a resource to reveal, and give light to scripture...by comparing scripture to scripture. Only God can reveal God. Only His Spirit can “guide us into all truth.” (John 16:13)

Faith Class 101: Class 4

The Professor began the class on a somber note today.

Students, you will notice some empty seats around the classroom. Some of the students have dropped out. Most of them had excuses of being too busy to study The Word, some decided learning about faith was a subject they heard before, and others said receiving by faith just doesn’t work for them. This is displeasing to the Father, for if God’s Word and walking by faith are not first place in one’s life, the world will rush in to displace and rob Kingdom benefits from them or worse.

“ ‘Now the just shall live by faith;
But if anyone draws back,
My soul has no pleasure in him.’
But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.” (Hebrews 10:38-39)

But for those students who have ears to hear, the deeper truths will be revealed that you may grow and prosper, partake of the divine nature, escaping the corruption that is in the world. (See 2 Peter 1:2-4)

In our last class we discussed the Requirements of Using Faith, or what faith needs to move forward and bring Father’s promises to pass in your life. That book in front of you, The Bible, has over 5,000 promises that God has given to His children so that they may prosper and be in health as they are running their race to fulfill their personal assignment.

When you are reading those promises remember they are not like anything else that has been written on earth. Those words are not just letters on a page. They were originally in God, the Creator. They were spoken so they could be written, they were written so they could be spoken by each of God’s children. When released in faith, those words will produce the life that is in them, just like when God-Elohim said, “Let there be light. And there was light.” Because God is a faith-God, He had immediate results. This is why Jesus told His disciples to “Have faith in God.” Included in that is “Have the God-kind of faith.” (Mark 11:22) Of course, a good Father would always want His children to have what He has and, certainly, that they be equipped to fulfill their Father’s call.

As promised, we are going to study about Abraham, the father of all those who believe.

Let’s begin with Romans 4:13.
“For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.”

When God first spoke to Abraham He promised him that He would “make him a great nation.” (Genesis 12:2-3). Years later, Abraham had another encounter with God as He reaffirmed the promise and told him his descendants would be as the stars of heaven. (Genesis 15:5) This time as Abraham viewed the stars in the heaven and heard God’s voice, faith was birthed.

“And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.”
This is where everything changed, not only for Abraham, but for God as well.

Why? God would have His greatest desire: a family of children set apart for Him.

Out of Abraham would come Isaac, the child conceived by faith in God.
From Isaac would come twelve sons.
Seven generations later, Moses would be born.
Out of Moses would come The Law and The Prophets.

The Law came as a tutor, to reveal to man what is right and what is wrong: “...for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” (Romans 3:20)

So, God spoke and the Old Testament was written. But God’s plan was not yet complete.

Further down through the generations of Abraham, God would send His Son, Jesus Christ, to be the propitiation for man’s sin and to bring His children under the First Covenant into a new and living way: a personal relationship with God. The Apostles would be the first to experience being filled with God’s Holy Spirit. In the days that followed, the Jews were on assignment to spread the Good News to the Gentiles, the nations, so that they too could experience the new birth and become the Temple of God’s Holy Spirit. Through the Apostles God wrote The New Testament.

When we look at the big picture we can see that through Abraham all nations of the earth have been blessed. Through him came Isaac and the twelve tribes of Israel, a separated chosen people.

And most importantly, through Abraham came Jesus Christ, and by His death and resurrection came the birth of The Church, the called out ones, a holy nation, a royal priesthood of people from all the nations of the earth...God’s family!

This is that...which God planned for man before the foundation of the world.
“For He Himself [Jesus] is our peace, who has made both one [Jews and Gentiles] ... having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments ... so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross ...” (Ephesians 2:14-16)

Faith 101: Class 3 - Part 2
Let’s listen in as the Professor is continuing to teach the students on the Requirements of Using Faith.

(Scroll down to Part 1 before continuing on.)

Number 6
Faith requires love.

Faith works through love. (Galatians 5:6) Love God, love others. Forgive quickly or it will disengage your faith. Guard your heart against becoming offended. This is a common tactic the enemy uses.

Number 7
Fight the good fight of faith.
(1 Timothy 6:12)
If you don’t fight for what you want, you will lose.

That means you have to be determined not to give up even when circumstances are contrary. So many Christians have dropped faith just before a great breakthrough. “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise...” (Hebrews 10:35-36)

“Sir, I’m just not a fighter. If God has given us all these benefits why don’t they just manifest?”

Son, don’t ever say “if God....” You’re already wobbling between believing and doubting. That makes you unstable. (James 1:6-8) One day you’re up, the next day you’re down. Can you see what you’re doing?

Here’s a simple example.

Faith is like getting in a car desiring to go to the next city, but every few feet you hit the brakes. Stop and go, stop and go. One reason for this is you’re watching and listening to worldly programs far too much. That’s how things get into your heart and disengage faith. Jesus told His disciples to be careful what you allow to come into your ears. Read Mark 4:23-33.

We’re in a fight because the world is flowing the wrong way.

“We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.” (1 John 5:19) That is a system that opposes anything that has to do with Jesus Christ.

The LORD has told you to be strong in Him, and in the power of His might.
How do you do that?
You put on all of God’s armor and use it every morning in prayer. (Ephesians 6:10-18)

Then, having done all, stand! In other words, engage!
Hold your ground.
Use your authority!

The mighty shield of faith with the spoken Word of God is very effective in casting your enemy out. Remember how Jesus overcame the enemy in the desert. (Matthew 4:1-11)

I want the entire class to memorize 2 Corinthians 10:3-5  and also Matthew 16:18-19.  Next week I will be calling on students to recite these scriptures. Don't be caught unprepared!

Number 8
Faith Needs Patience

“And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” (Hebrews 6:11-12) A farmer, after planting his crop, does not go out and dig up the seed to see if it’s working. Faith needs your trust.

Always remember this: Father God needs your faith to enact what you desire to have.

Number 9
Faith Needs You to be Single Minded

“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:6-8) Instability in the spirit realm will disconnect faith.

These are the most important requirements of faith. In our next class we will look at Abraham, the Father of all those who believe. (Romans 4:11)

This is that...which Paul taught to the Jewish Believers
“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith...” (Hebrews 12:1-2)

Faith 101: Class 3
The Professor stood in front of his students with a somber look on his face. I am glad that all of you are here today and that you have an earnest desire to learn about the Kingdom of God. But there are multitudes that are not permitted into this class that I strongly desire to teach.

“Why aren’t they allowed to join us, Sir?”

Because those on the outside have not fulfilled the mandatory requirement for this class, the qualifying factor for admission that was predetermined at the beginning.

Remember what The Master said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God... That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit, is spirit. You must be born again.”(See John 3:1-21)

Please keep praying for them, class.

REQUIREMENTS OF USING FAITH
“And He said to them, ‘To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables...’” (Mark 4:11)

Number 1
You must be a child of God.
“... having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever...” (1 Peter 1:23)

Number 2
Faith requires a scripture to stand on.
Faith’s power to create comes from what God has spoken. When believed, the Word is activated and faith is released. Remember, the promise is in an unseen process until it can be seen. It is similar to planting a seed in the ground. Even though germination is taking place, you cannot see it. Never, never dig up the seed to see if it has grown!

Number 3
Faith requires hope.
Hope is the blueprint that faith works from. See “This is that...” teaching on ‘Hope’ — 2.2.18.

Number 4
Faith needs your words.
This is a vital factor in being successful in God’s ways. Faith requires confession of what you believe in your heart. It is the way you received Jesus into your heart and it is how you receive and manifest any of the 5,000+ promises given to you in the Holy Scriptures.
“... The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ (that is, the word of faith which we preach):  that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:8-10)

Number 5
Faith requires corresponding action.

This includes the act of speaking or confessing the promise you are standing on. It also includes taking action — an activity to perform. One preacher was paralyzed in bed, meditating on Mark 11:23 for months. One morning, he heard inside himself that well men should be out of bed. With great difficulty he acted on that word, moving one foot out of the bed and then the other. Soon he was walking. Seek the LORD for direction.

“But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?” (James 2:20-21)

I have more to share on the Requirements of Faith which we will learn about in our next class.

This is that...which Jesus taught to His disciples.
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so shall you be My disciples.” (John 15:7-8)
