The Medicine Cabinet
If you’re feeling weak, discouraged, or depressed your gun is empty!
We’ve all been there. We’re here to help. Here are some things to check on to locate the problem.
The answer is always God’s Word and prayer.
If you have ever been to a doctor, he wanted to know some of your history and the symptoms you were having, right? Jesus has given us His Holy Spirit. Jesus said He is our Helper, Teacher, Strengthener, and Counselor. It is He that shows us things to come … but as a Counselor, He also shows us things that need attention right now.
It is He that lives and abides in you, knows all things, and has the answer to get you back in the driver's seat of a victorious, overcoming Christian, who is happy and enjoying the life Jesus died to give you.
If you’re in a slump, consider getting alone with your Counselor or Life Coach and spend some time with Him, the Holy Spirit.
Below is a brief check list for you to go through to identify and solve some common problems Christians must overcome to get back to feeling strong, courageous, vibrant, and joyful. It’s only the overcomers that make progress.
Even if you're not discouraged, you may want to read through the list below periodically to bring to your remembrance some basic spiritual truths we all must continually practice. Hebrews 2:1 admonishes even mature Christians to "give all the more careful attention to things we have heard lest we drift away." Ah ha...the empty gun!
If you have other issues concerning health or finances, please go to the Resource page.
Many times during a trial, people feel alone and think no one else is or has ever gone through what they are going through. But this is not true. God has promised He will never leave you alone and will always lead you to victory. Read 1 Peter 1:6-7
The Word calls us overcomers. Why? Because through the Word we always overcome and triumph.

CHECK LIST:
First Things First
First get quiet and pray. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you identify any areas that might need to be changed.
Has something robbed you of your time with the Lord? How much time do you spend with Him?
Are you seeking the Lord in study and prayer first thing every morning? Matthew 6:33
Are you setting your mind on things above and not on things on the earth? Colossians 3:1-3
Set your course for the day by His Word, prayer, and confessions. Jesus said, "If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you will ask ...and it shall be done for you." John15:7 This, of course, is essential to answered prayer. Remember to flow in the river of God's grace and ability as you walk by faith doing the greater works!
I like what Smith Wigglesworth did. When he got out of bed in the morning, he danced and praised God for 10 minutes.
This brings us to our next point.

Praise
Are you praising God? Psalm 8:2 says "praise will silence the enemy and the avenger."
Here is a song for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmPwgSXtB_E
There is nothing that can take the place of true Praise and Worship. Music is so important. True worship is powerful enough to blast you out of despair. It is also nourishing to your body to enter in and dance in praise. See Power Praise
Jesus said, "...true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is a Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:23-24
If you’re downcast, try this for one day and see what results take place:
Commit to offer God praise at the top of each hour of the day for 60 seconds; i.e. 9:00am…Praise Him!...10:00am... Praise Him!...and so on. Even if you’re working, you can probably "mutter" praise to our Father quietly. Find something to be thankful for. He is so good!
Or you might read the book of first John every morning for a week. Meditate on how much God loves you. If you think He doesn’t love you, you are believing a lie. There is nothing that can separate you from His love, nothing! Romans 8:38-39

Worry and Cares
Jesus said in Mark 4:18-19, the cares of this world entering in will choke the Word. Uh Oh…an empty gun!
Dear Saints, we are living in what scripture says are "perilous times." We must protect and guard our hearts from worry and cares. Perhaps listening to a continual barrage of bad news reports, trashy TV and movies, and so on is robbing you of joy and peace. Protect the Word; protect your anointing so you can be effective in prayer. Pay attention to what you are listening to and watching.
The world is speeding down a road of wickedness that wants nothing to do with God. Separate yourself from things that do not edify you: spirit, soul and body.
What to do with cares? Humble yourselves…casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Read 1 Peter 5:5-10.
Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. It is very important that you listen to Pastors/Teachers who are anointed to teach the uncompromised Word of God.
Without faith it is impossible to please God. Why? Because if you're not in faith He'll have a tough time answering your prayer. That does not please our good and faithful God who desires greatly to bless us with kindness, favor, and grace.

Thoughts
It is required in these last days to do what is necessary to control your thought life.
Practice:
Practice:
- Take every thought captive!
- Taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ can be like a cowboy trying to round up a herd of wild mustangs. This gets easier the more you practice it. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
- Meditate on the Word…keep it in your mouth and in your thoughts…. Joshua 1:8
- Rejoice! Be anxious for nothing…but pray and the peace of God will guard your heart and mind. Philippians 4:4-9
- But remember, watching a really terrible horror movie for two hours is going to cost you. Guard your heart!
- The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; he who keeps his way preserves his soul. Proverbs 16:17
Yokes
Are you unequally yoked with people you shouldn’t be? 2 Corinthians 6:14-18
Burned out by serving God and the church?
"Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her." Luke 10:41-42 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me …you will find rest…for My yoke is easy and My burden light." Matthew 11:28-30
Hopelessness can turn into weariness and weariness will cause you to faint. "And let us not be weary in well-doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9

Fear
Fear is the opposite of faith and is a snare of the devil. Fear will contaminate your faith and keep you in bondage. Without faith you cannot please God. Fear is never from God.
God has given us power, and love, and a sound mind…2 Timothy 1:7 Read also Romans 8:15 and 1 John 4:17-19.
Build yourself up in the scriptures and pray in tongues every morning. Major on hearing God's Word rather than majoring on what the world is saying.
Read Psalm 91 every morning.

Self Pity
Self pity is insidious and a dangerous place to be. Continually thinking: No One Loves Me…No One Cares…No One Appreciates Me…produces no fruit for you or the Kingdom of God. We do not have the privilege to allow our thoughts to go wild and think no one else has gone through what we have gone through.
Remember Jesus our Savior? He suffered more than anyone else has ever suffered. Want some details? Read Deuteronomy 28:15-68. This is the horrible record of the consequences of disobedience and sin: the curse of the law.
Jesus read and knew these verses. He knew He would take all the pain of the curse to redeem you and me from the law and its death-grip. Why? So that we might experience the Blessing of Abraham instead. Read Galatians 3:13-14.
Jesus came to pay a debt He didn't owe because we owed a debt we couldn't pay.
Dear heart, who has ever loved you that much? Change your thinking!
Which brings us to our next category:

Offenses and Unforgiveness
When they beat and then nailed Jesus to the cross, He asked His Father to forgive them for "they know not what they do.” Nothing anyone has ever done to you can compare with the injustice of the multitudes who turned against Him. He was innocent: the Lamb of God. Is it possible that some who cried out, "Crucify Him," were some of those who ate the fishes and the loaves?
We don’t have the privilege of holding grudges or keeping a diary of what "they did to you or what they didn't do for you." Don't expect people to lay down the red carpet for you. Do expect God to bless you with His abundant grace and favor.
Focus instead on your Father and His love and provisions for you. He's the one who meets your needs. Philippians 4:19
"But, but, but...You don't know...." There's no buts here, dear heart. Unforgiveness is like drinking a cup of poison expecting it to damage the one who wronged you. It WILL affect your prayer life. Mark 11:25
Ask the Lord to forgive you; make the decision to get back to basics: to love. Purpose in your heart to be thankful. Be grateful to God for giving you all of His best: His love, His Son, His Spirit, His Word, His Kingdom, and eternal life.
You are an important part of the Body of Christ and you have gifts and purposes on the inside of you that no one else has. Don't suppress them by unforgiveness. Meditate on Ephesians, Chapter 1, every day until your mind is renewed, your heart full, and the lies are gone.

Submission
God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:6-7) Remember you are here to serve others. Jesus said, a servant is not greater than His Master.
God not only wants you to submit to Himself but also to a local church and Pastor. This is God's way of doing things or God's Government. Fellowship and assembling with the saints at church and outside of church is absolutely necessary for an overcoming life and even more so as the end approaches. Hebrews 10:25
Do you remember seeing nature films of an animal like an antelope that is weak and slowly gets separated from the group only to get cornered and subdued by the fierceness of a lion? Don’t ever think you can go it alone, dear heart. Your gifts and ministry will flourish under submission.

Praying in Tongues
What an awesome gift God has given us! It's a loaded gun. Don't let it slip away. Build yourself up!
“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit..." Jude 20
By praying in the spirit you are speaking directly to God, praying out mysteries. There is nothing that can take the place of praying in tongues. It has the ability to edify and produce stamina and tenacity within you because you are tapping into the powerhouse of God Himself: His Holy Spirit.
Read 1 Corinthians 14:1-5 (Remember, praying in tongues is a personal gift, different than the gift to the congregation.)
When I was a new Christian there was much controversy over this gift of God. Many mistakenly thought it had passed away or thought it was from the devil. But God has been at work in our generation restoring and training the End-Days Church. Millions of believers in every nation know the benefits of praying in tongues. Salvation has not passed away and neither has this gift.
Make sure to use this gift to intercede for each county in your state. It is remarkable how effective our prayers are when we have revelation knowledge from the Holy Spirit to know how to pray as we should. Romans 8:26

Regrets, Sorrows, Disappointments, and Mistakes
You can't live on planet earth without having experienced difficulties. We have all had to deal with these things, but the overcomers have learned how to move on and make progress. I don't have all the answers on how to get through things that have already taken place in your life that cause you grief. But the Holy Spirit is called The Counselor for a reason. He knows the sorrow and He is the answer and Healer of inner wounds. Spend time with Him, your Bible, and your journal.
Read Jeremiah 30:17
Regrets are nasty thoughts that eat away at your confidence and rob you of the joy of living. Remember, the past is passed. Yesterday ended at midnight and you cannot change what has already taken place.
You can, however, change today by what you do and what you think about. Many have been healed by getting busy serving others.
Do you remember Moses' mistake and why he could not enter the promised land? Moses could have been very grieved over the consequence of his mistake at Kadesh. Bitterness and regret could have been extremely harmful to him personally and to his ministry to Israel. I am confident that because of his close relationship with the Lord, God was able to restore him to fulfill and achieve his purpose right through his disappointment.
Read Numbers 20:1-13
