WHY STUDY THE SCRIPTURES
You are a spirit, you have a soul, and you live in a body. Just as your body needs food, your spirit needs the study of His Word to keep you strong spiritually and to renew and transform your thinking patterns from this world’s chaos and lies to the unseen realm of God’s Kingdom and His way of living. We, His children, are to put His truths first place in our lives every day and be doers of the Word.
Jesus said, “It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63
How does bible study affect your prayer life?
"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God...rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15
“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” John 15:7
What’s the opposite of abiding in Jesus, who is the Word of God?
Ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall not be done unto you.
Why?
“…for without me ye can do nothing.” John 15:5
Dear ones, we don’t make up the rules. The wise yield and follow them.
Effective Prayer Requires God's Word
The study of God’s Word must always be the foundation of any prayer assignments you have. This is like your right hand and your left hand that work together to accomplish and change things.
The effectiveness of your prayer is based on how disciplined you have been to study and get His Word in your heart so that when you pray, the prayer of faith becomes the sword of the Spirit … Ephesians 6:17... which is effectual and mighty to change things, even the course of nature. James 5:16-18
Some people of prayer have been “shipwrecked” in their faith because they let their personal study time slip.
We have a cunning adversary who knows how to distract and throw foolish pray-ers off course, separating them from God’s Word.
I love the Apostle Paul’s revelation of The Church in 1 Corinthians, Chapter 12: “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.” One body, yet we are many. When you study and do God’s Word we all benefit. When you are strong, you strengthen the whole body.
The Promise to Those Who Abide
“You will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” John 15:8
And that, dear heart, is the reason for Team Tuesday.
