To stumble
Or not to stumble…
“My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.
“Indeed, we put bits in horses’ mouths that they may obey us, and we turn their whole body. Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell. For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind. But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh.”
(James 3:1-12)
The Tongue: Words!
Man with his carnal nature cannot tame the tongue!
The born again Spirit-filled Christian who abides in God’s Word daily will automatically watch over the words he is speaking. This power comes from the indwelling Holy Spirit of God that lives 24/7 with us!
Praying in tongues throughout the day will certainly empower spirit-man so that he can monitor the words he may be thinking of saying, even when confronted with unwanted or demonic circumstances that may try to raise the old nature from the grave to let words fly without restriction. Why? Scripture says those evil words spoken can defile the whole body! Definition of defile: to corrupt, contaminate, or pollute.
Saints, we need to hear what the Spirit is saying to The Church so we can remain strong and healthy in these end days. We have a big job to do: bring in the harvest! And that starts with anointed intercession.
The Tongue
The perfect man - able also to bridle the whole body!
“And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.”
(Romans 13:11-14)
How do you put on the Lord Jesus Christ?
His Word in your mouth!
How can you do great exploits for God’s Kingdom if you don’t know who you are? The enemy of God is out to deceive, steal, kill and destroy.
Over forty years ago I received a copy of the “Who I Am in Christ Scriptures.”
I continue to speak them out loud so I can hear myself saying who God says I am…a new creation in Christ…like you!
