THE BOX
God has made us, first of all, a spirit born from above.
Second, He has given us a soul: a mind, will, emotions, intellect, and memories.
Lastly, He made a magnificent thing we call a body, which is our earth suit, and the temple of His Holy Spirit.
In my garage is a box full of things that carry memories. The mind is a good example of a box. In that box we have good and bad memories, things we have learned, experiences we have had. Things we watch, listen to, associate with, think about, conversations we have, and so on are all being placed into the box … your mind.
The End Days Just Before the Return of Jesus
God spoke to Daniel about 200 B.C.
“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” (Daniel 12:4)
Paul wrote to Timothy about the end days.
“But understand this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear].
(2 Timothy 3:1 AMPC)
Information Overload?
Knowledge increasing, times of great stress and trouble …
How are you doing? Are you sleeping well every night? Are you remaining in peace throughout your day? Are you in fear, anxious about your family and the virus, the United States government, the economy… and so on?
Remember the box?
If you’re spending hours watching the news, reading things online, constantly talking about all that’s going on, you are taking in a lot of information that will cause anxiety, stress, and hopelessness. Most likely faith in God is diminishing. Remember, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he." (Proverbs 23:7)
Jesus taught His disciples the most important parable, “The Sower Sows the Word.” (Mark 4:10-32) Then Jesus said, “Take heed what you hear…” Why? Because what is coming into your ears will get down into your spirit-man and either increase your faith or steal your faith. If you are listening to something that is causing fear or anxiety to come upon you, stop what you’re listening to. Joy and peace are the first fruits of your spirit to go dim because your inner light is going dark. Take control!
Cares and the Unproductive Church
“Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who hear the word, and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.” (Mark 4:18-19)
Vines Dictionary - Cares: anxiety, distracting care, taking thought
Notice Jesus said, “cares entering in.”
That means they’re getting into your heart (spirit) where God’s Word is stored. Anxiety and fear begin to choke scripture. Other definitions for choke are to suffocate, smother, gag, asphyxiate, quench, and strangulate! Monitor your feelings. Sadness is a sign of loss …
So often scripture tells the Believer to guard his heart.
Proverbs 4:20-27 should be studied often in our day. “Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life.” One of those life resources from The Word that flow into you is healing/medicine to all your flesh.
But if cares and desires for other things are choking God’s Word, it is restricting “health to all your flesh” like a kink in a hose. Hours of hearing negative words at night will probably erase the fruitfulness of your Bible Study earlier that day. “Take heed what you hear.” Both faith and fear come by hearing.
Don’t ever go to bed loaded down with worry, fear, and cares. Cast your cares by giving them to the LORD. Go to sleep on a scripture. Listen to good faith teaching for an hour before you go to sleep. “Do not worry!” (Matthew 6:24-34)
EMPTY YOUR BOX OF CARES … OFTEN!
Constant fear will open the door to satan because he is the author of it. If you are having difficulty casting cares to the Lord, make it a practice three times a day to give them to Jesus. Copy these scriptures on a card and read them out loud.
*“Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith…”
(2 Peter 5:6-9)
*“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)
This is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith. (1 John 5:4)
Answered prayer is dependant on faith.
No Word? No Faith! No faith? No fruit from God’s anointed Word!
You are so important!
You being fruitful affects me and the whole Body of Christ.
And we, the Glorious Church, are on assignment to bring in souls!
This is that … which is smart to practice!
*“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
Include this scripture with the other two on your card.
Praise Him! ... and the enemy will flee!
