This is that ...

On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came...

Many Jews were confused and marveled, “Whatever can this mean?”

Then Peter standing up raised his voice and began to speak. “These are not drunk as you suppose...but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel...” (Acts 2:16)

This is that... is a resource to reveal, and give light to scripture...by comparing scripture to scripture. Only God can reveal God. Only His Spirit can “guide us into all truth.” (John 16:13)

The Church—Part 3

Multitudes waited in the courtyard outside the King’s castle to be given permission to enter the palace room. One by one they would have their turn to present their request to the King. Upon entering, they bowed their head and waited quietly for the King to motion for them to come close and give their request. Some of them had much to say, others made their petitions quickly; all of them exited the royal residence by thanking the King and backing up in a humble respectful way, according to court etiquette. Most wondered whether their request would be honored.

Everyday in the afternoon, the King set aside time when his many children came bouncing in to see him. They came rushing in the side doors with great joy. “Daddy, daddy, we had so much fun down at the lake today,” one said. Another yelled, “Daddy, look at the fish I caught! It was a struggle to get him in the boat, but I did it, I did it all by myself!” Others came running in, even with mud on their shoes, but thought nothing of it, after all, they knew their father wouldn’t mind. They knew well their father’s big smile. With open arms all the children ran to him to kiss his face and climb up on his lap. They had so much to share with him, but they always quieted down when he began to speak. They knew what he had to say would be wonderful, even if they were being corrected.

And oh how they loved his stories and teachings about life. These were times they cherished, embraced in their father’s love and joy. They were all well aware that this was the very best time of the day—not just for them but for father as well.

Dear friend, which of these two groups of people do you relate to?

If you have repented of your sins and given your life to Jesus Christ, you have no business coming to our heavenly Father in a fearful or beggarly manner. Jesus died to give you life abundantly. The abundant life is the gift of His Father.

Did you know that Father loves you just as much as He loves His Son Jesus?
(See John 17:23)

Jesus said:
“... 'Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.' And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.” (Mark 10:14-16)

This is that...which the blood of Jesus has obtained for us:
“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.”  (Hebrews 10:19-22)

Don't know God yet?
If you do not have a personal loving relationship with Almighty God and His Son Jesus Christ, pray the prayer listed at "Don't know God?"

The Church — Part 2

In the previous text, we focused on two subjects.
First was a song that a young woman was singing; calling, actually begging God to deliver us and send down His power.
Second, we were given an example along with scriptures that show that Jesus has already given His Church authority over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19) ... and the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven, to bind and to lose. (See Matthew 16:18-19)

Many who are writing and singing heartfelt songs to God are doing so in error.
Why is that? The words they are speaking do not line up with New Testament Scripture. That’s a big problem which points to the neglect of teaching who we are in Christ and what Jesus died to give us.

You can’t act on something you don’t know you have.

Many times, born again children of God are being taught scriptures given to the Jews under the Old Testament. It’s very important to remember that the Jews did not yet have God’s laws written in their hearts. For instance, when reading Old Testament scripture like the Psalms and before receiving instruction for your life, ask “Does this line up with my identification in Christ?”

THE NEW COVENANT
The Holy Spirit through the Apostle Paul’s letter to the Hebrews brings correction and knowledge about their new identity in Christ.
“‘This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them’ then He adds, ‘Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.’”  Jesus offered Himself to God to “cleanse our conscience from dead works.”

Not only that but “... the worshipers, once purified, would have had no more consciousness of sins...” (unless in our weekly services we’re continually reminded of them.) (Hebrews 10:16-17, 9:14, 10:2-3)

PRAISE AND WORSHIP
Do we really think Father desires to hear an assembly of His children begging Him in worship for something He has already given them through the Blood of His Son? Does He get pleasure hearing about our past sinful ways and in the next breadth praising Him for His goodness?

THE ERROR OF MIXING SEED
“You shall not sow your field with mixed seed. Nor shall a garment of mixed linen and wool come upon you.” (Leviticus 19:19)
Words are seeds!
Not only is the New Creation Man born of an “incorruptible seed” (1 Peter 1:23), but we know from the scriptures that words are seeds. Speaking words is planting them.
“... for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.” (Matthew 17:20)

What happens in the spirit when we focus on our past sin?
It inhibits the born again inner man from entering into true worship (John 4:23-24) because it unleashes the soul: the mind, will, and emotions.
Unity?
During worship, songs with error in them get Christians speaking/confessing error over themselves which will produce a harvest of unworthiness!

And where “two or more are in agreement, they will have what they desire.” (Matthew 18:19)

OUR RIGHT STANDING WITH GOD

Here’s the root of a begging mentality: a lack of knowledge!
“For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.”
(Romans 10:2-3)

“But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, ‘Do not say in your heart, “Who will ascend into heaven?” (that is, to bring Christ down from above) or, “Who will descend into the abyss?” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).’
“But what does it say?
“‘The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart’ (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
(Romans 10:6-10)

This is that...which Peter revealed about our new nature in Christ.
“...His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” (2 Peter 1:3-4)

This is that...1.8.18   The Church—Part 1
There she was singing her heart out on Christian television. As the song continued, her calling on God became more intensified. Over and over again, her cry to God to please take action with His mighty power got more and more desperate.

There was not one ounce of faith in it!

On the contrary, those heartfelt words were full of fear. Where fear is in full manifestation there is NO faith. That does not please God. (Hebrews 11:6) Why? The channel of faith which God uses to bless His children has a kink in it.

“How can you say that song has no faith in it? She obviously believes in God?”
Demons believe in God! That doesn’t mean they have the God-kind of faith.

“You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!” (James 2:19)

The problem with this dear heart begging God to send the power is that just doesn’t line up with scripture. The writer of the song and the one singing do not know who they are in Christ Jesus or the authority that has been placed in their hands. It’s a big problem throughout The Church.

The Ball is in your Court
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)

“... and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:18-19)

Who has the keys of authority?
Where’s the hang up?

In the pulpit!
(See Hosea 5:6 & Isaiah 5:13)

What did Jesus say?
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them... teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”  (Matthew 28:18-20)

“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues... they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)

Satan would like nothing better than to steal the knowledge of our authority. If he can keep The Church in a continual state of begging and rehearsing past hurts it gives him room to operate. Why? No one is stopping him.

What if...
Several gangs were operating in a community, vandalizing homes, breaking into stores, killing people. The police were called but when they showed up they sat in their cars making phone calls to the Chief of Police. “Please send help, we’re desperate for your power.” Others said, “Please, we need you to come here. We’re waiting for you, seeking only you.”

What do you think the Chief of Police might say to his officers?
Would he be pleased?
Haven’t these officers been deputized? Don’t they know they have authority and the power of their cities’ government behind them? Why aren’t officers enforcing the law that has been written? Why aren’t they using the power that has been given them?

What did Jesus do?
“But if I cast out demons with the finger of God, surely the kingdom of God has come upon you. When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. But when a stronger than he comes upon him and overcomes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils.” (Luke 11:20-22)

What about The Church of the LORD Jesus Christ?
Greater works than these we will do...(John 14:12)
"Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:27)

This is that...which Jesus Christ prophesied.
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
