This is that ...

On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came...

Many Jews were confused and marveled, “Whatever can this mean?”

Then Peter standing up raised his voice and began to speak. “These are not drunk as you suppose...but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel...” (Acts 2:16)

This is that... is a resource to reveal, and give light to scripture...by comparing scripture to scripture. Only God can reveal God. Only His Spirit can “guide us into all truth.” (John 16:13)

About Revival

The book of Zephaniah is an interesting account of Israel’s history written about 600 years prior to Jesus’ birth. It’s only three chapters and worthy of your attention.

God is all about changing the heart of man, for revival that produces only a temporary outward change but does not remove the corruption of the inner man will not have a permanent effect on the individual or bring change to a nation.

God often brings judgment before revival to bring true repentance upon prideful hardened hearts that oppose Him. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4)

Zephaniah recorded God’s present anger with Israel but also His anger toward nations of the last days, when eventually His wrath will be poured out on all flesh.

Zephaniah 3:8-20 speaks of God’s love and restoration … the outcome of revival!

We certainly could compare what our nation has been through in 2020 & 2021 as a major correction not only to our nation but also to His Church. Perhaps your church was faithful, but over the last few years many churches sought to become just like the world with the mistaken idea that would pull in the lost. No!
That was pulling His people away from their foundations!

And where there is no anointed Word taught, the sheep get hungry and will eat things without any nutritional value. Sitting on the fence with one foot in the world is VERY dangerous.

Jesus told Peter to “feed His sheep.”

When the Word of God is put to the back of the line, The Church loses its salt. Jesus said, “It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” And, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:13 & 16)

And some thought we could have signs, wonders, and miracles by removing crosses from church buildings so no one would be offended. God calls this adultery!

“Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” (See James 4:4-5)

So, He brings judgment.

May 2021 — Turning Point!
Intercessors have had times of deep weeping before God about what’s happened in our government. I sense in my spirit that God will bring a restoration as we pray for His plan to come forth. And we know that all of this is pointing toward the great end-day’s revival we have been praying for.

Like a pregnant woman who suffers through hours of agony to birth her child, we will see a glorious outcome as God brings the lost into His Kingdom!

This is what happens when God shows up!
Old Testament

Moses and the Red Sea - Exodus Chapter 14
Moses led about 2 million Israelites through the desert up to the Red Sea. God led their enemies to pursue them. Why? “I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, that the Egyptian’s may know that I am the Lord. Do not be afraid. Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord … the Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
Result? Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. “Thus Israel saw the great work which the Lord had done ….”

Joshua: Chapter 10
Joshua and the armies of God were in a horrific battle with five Kings and their armies. Joshua told the sun to stand still, “so the sun stood still, and the moon stopped” for about a whole day!  “The Lord heeded the voice of a man!”

Gideon: Judges Chapter 6 & 7
God chose a man with no confidence. Yet, his deep insecurity did not change God’s call on his life. Gideon started with an army of about 32,000 men but sent thousands home at God’s command. Gideon and 300 men defeated the Midianites, who outnumbered Israel 450 to 1. How? God had a plan and wanted all to know the victory was not because of man but because of God!

David: 1 Samuel 17:45-52
God chose a young man to do what an army could not. David declared, “This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you …that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.”
Maybe The Church should take a lesson in boldness from David!

New Testament
Jesus Christ: Matthew 15:31

“So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel.”

The Apostles: Acts 3:1-10
Peter and John healed the man lame from his mother’s womb!
Later on in Peter’s ministry, he raised Dorcas from the dead! (Acts 9:36-43)

Stephen: Acts 6:8
Stephen was one of the first seven deacons of the early church, “full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.”

Ananias and Sapphira: Acts 5:1-11
“Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself … you have not lied to men but to God.”
Consequence:
each one died after lying. Having God in your mist requires higher standards!

Philip: Acts 8:26-40
After leading the Ethiopian eunuch to receive Jesus and be baptized in water, Philip was translated … disappeared!

Saul of Tarsus: Acts 9:1-9
Saul was on his journey to Damascus to come against the disciples of the Lord but fell to the ground when a light from heaven came upon him. Jesus confronted him. Trembling and astonished, Saul asked the Lord, “What do you want me to do?”

There is always hope when praying for those in authority!

This is that … which Jesus said.
“Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.”
Jesus is coming soon!

*These victories are good to read over and over again when praying for God’s plan to be birthed.
