Faith Fundamentals
Faith is a spiritual force, a substance. Faith is not based in the five-sense realm of touch, sight, taste, smell, and hearing; those things that we are so accustomed to making decisions from.
Where did faith came from?
God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. (Romans 12:3) By grace through faith, you have been saved, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8) Faith is developed by planting...(or saying faith-filled words.) (See Luke 17:5-10)
Examples of Faith
Problem—darkness and void:
“Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.” (Genesis 1:3)
Problem—the rich woman who had no son:
The prophet said, “About this time next year you shall embrace a son.” (2 Kings 4:17)
Problem—the widow and her sons had a debt they could not pay.
The prophet said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere...pour (the oil you have) into the vessels... (then) “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.” (2 Kings 4:7)
Problem—the drought and starvation.
The prophet said, “Do not fear...make me a small cake (from what you have) first, and afterward...for yourself and son. And she and he and her household ate for many days”
(1 Kings 17:16)
Problem—the people are hungry.
Jesus had been teaching the multitude all day. The disciples said, “This is a deserted place and already the hour is late...send them away...” (that they may eat.)
The Prophet said, “You give them something to eat...”
“So they all ate and were filled...about five thousand men.” (Mark 6:44)
Material things depend on spiritual things for their existence.
All things are upheld with the word of His power. (Hebrews 1:3) The earth and everything created on it came forth by the words of Almighty God. Things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. (Hebrews 11:3)
Faith demands that God be your only source. If you wander from this you will be double-minded or doubt-minded and unstable. (James 1:6-8)
The preaching of faith (Romans 10:17) will take you where you desire to go. Find the promise of God that will meet your need. Remember you are planting a living seed in your heart. (Mark 4:10-32)
Your part: Stay in the Word, and believe you receive.
God’s part: To bring it to pass. (See Mark 11 22-26)
If it doesn’t exist in your heart, or you just can’t “see” it, you can’t have faith for it.
Meditate on the precious promise until revelation comes. Then, thank God.
This is that...which the Apostle Paul spoke about.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ... (Ephesians 1:3)
