The End Days
“Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.” (2 Thessalonians 2:1-6)
Gathering – shaken - day of Christ – deceive – falling - perdition - opposes - exalts - restraining; all have their fulfillment in the end days. What a privilege to be called to fulfill our assignments in these days.
Let’s look deeper into these words that are highlighted in our text by searching what they specifically mean according to this passage. I am using the Vine’s Expository Dictionary and the Strong’s Concordance.
Gathering: a gathering together, is used of the rapture of the saints.
Shaken: to agitate, primarily of the action of stormy winds; of the natural forces of the heavens and heavenly bodies (Matthew 24:29, Mark 13:25, Luke 21:26); to unsettle, “(to the end that) ye be not (quickly) shaken (from your mind),” i.e., from their settled conviction and the purpose of heart begotten by it, as to the return of Christ before the Day of the Lord begins; the metaphor (of shaken) may be taken from the loosening of a ship from its moorings by a storm.
Troubled: to make an outcry; tumult; affliction; tribulation
Day of Christ: is the day of His manifested judgment on the world. The Apostle’s warning is that the church in Thessalonica should not be deceived by thinking that “the Day of the Lord is now present.” This period will not begin till the circumstances mentioned in verses 3 and 4 take place.
Deceive: to seduce wholly; to cheat; beguile, that which gives a false impression, a bait; snare; delude; error; wandering
Falling away: signifies the apostasy from faith; abandoning what one believed in. (See Luke 18:8). In papyri documents it is used politically of rebels; violence, rebellion.
Perdition: destruction; ruin, loss, spiritual destitution; physical and eternal destruction; death; perishing; eternal ruin.
Oppose: to set oneself opposite; an adversary; the opponent and self-exalter. Some would use the word in a legal sense since the devil accuses men before God. (1 Peter 5:8)
Exalts: to raise over; of exalting oneself above exceedingly
Restrain: to hold back or down; being restrained in its development; to arrest, take possession of, lay hold of, detain
What is restraining? Who is Holding Back Evil?
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you …” You have a “power plant” inside you! The Glorious Church (full of glory), and the greater armies of angels are restraining demonic forces and the coming antichrist.
The Power of Intercession
Recently I heard someone begin to pray by asking God to do something He told them to do. Many Christians do not know their authority or know it but fail to engage their weapons through their words. We are soldiers in the army of the Lord and have the power of the Holy Spirit in us. Genesis Chapter 1 reveals the Holy Spirit was hovering over the void and darkness of earth. Then God spoke “Light be and light was!” When we pray in tongues and in English, the same Holy Spirit is being released through us to change what is contrary to line up with God’s will. Our overall assignment is for the Kingdom of God to be established on earth, which, of course, our number one priority at this late date is the saving of souls.
The Weapons of Our Warfare
Much of the church is not doing what Jesus said.
“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:18-19) For an anointed intercessor, those keys (words) are in your mouth. They unlock and release God’s will or forbid that which is evil. All things are subject to change. “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:18)
If you walk closely with God you know He doesn’t always lay out the entire details of His plan. He expects us to trust in Him no matter what it looks like. I believe God is right in the middle of this whole mess in the government. When a house is being remodeled because of many years of neglect, it can be stressful to go through days of removing decayed floors and walls and getting rid of rat infestation. What God is doing is necessary as He is opening up everything for all to see. Don’t spend a lot of time watching the news, especially if you notice fear coming in. Intercessors don’t need to stay up on all the current news to pray. It’s important to pray from a place of peace. Tongues will take you into the spirit to hit the target with precision accuracy!
Intercession requires faith so God can move. Stay in the Word and walk in love. Be bold to witness! People are searching.
Yes, the glory of God is coming as the latter rain!
Signs, wonders, and miracles are coming as a flood. You can sense the shift when you pray in tongues. Do this often. Let’s go full force in praying with sincere hearts of love for those in government offices to come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. The Intercessor, our High Priest, works through us. If He forgave us our sins, we must forgive others who are greatly deceived.
Remember what Jesus did to Saul of Tarsus? (Acts 9:1-19) Remember Jesus on the cross? “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:34) If all the church goes after this with all their heart, it will release the glory like a flood!!! And remember to bind the deceiver.
While we’re working, keep looking for His return every day!
“Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.” (Matthew 25:13)
This is that … which is praying with all kinds of prayer.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.” (2 Corinthians 10:3-6)
P.S.
After completing this writing I took a break before making corrections from my Editor, (husband). I listened to a video teaching by Cathy Duplantis. She was preaching at her church on 1.24.21 on this very subject. It’s an anointed power-packed message.
Put the cursor on 1 hour 5 minutes to hear the teaching.
