Fornication
What is it?
Vines Dictionary: illicit sexual intercourse
Webster’s Dictionary: sexual intercourse between two people not married to each other
God also used the word fornication to describe Israel when they left Him to go after the gods and ways of other nations. Likewise, even our nation, once founded on God’s ways and scripture, has corrupted itself so horribly, and in just one generation!
Let’s look at a few New Testament scriptures concerning fornication.
Why? Because the acceptance of fornication has spread even into our churches! Ignorant Christians who do not know scripture have no idea of the serious consequences of unmarried couples living together.
*Note: Many times the word fornication and sexual immorality are used interchangeably in the scriptures.
Scriptures from Jesus on fornication:
“And I say unto you, whosoever shall put away his wife, except for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery…” (Matthew 19:9)
“ ‘You do the deeds of your father.’ Then they said to Him, ‘We were not born of fornication; we have one Father—God.” ’ (John 8:41)
“Nevertheless I have a few things against you, because you allow that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, to teach and seduce My servants to commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. And I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, and she did not repent. Indeed I will cast her into a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of their deeds.” (Revelation 2:20)
Some scriptures on fornication from the Apostles:
“But concerning the Gentiles who believe, we have written and decided that they should observe no such thing, except that they should keep themselves from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality (fornication).” (Acts 21:25)
“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality (fornication), wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness…
(Romans 1:28-29)
“Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For ‘the two’ He says, ‘shall become one flesh.’ But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.”
(1 Corinthians 6:13-18)
“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” (Galatians 5:18-21)
“But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints; either filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not be partakers with them.” (Ephesians 5:3-7)
“Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.” (1 Corinthians 7:2)
“Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell…” (1 Corinthians 10:8)
“… lest, when I come again, my God will humble me among you, and I shall mourn for many who have sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lewdness which they have practiced.
(2 Corinthians 12:21)
“Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.” (Colossians 3:7)
“For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.” (1 Thessalonians 4:3-8)
“And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” (Jude 6-7)
“But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.” (Revelation 9:20-21)
There’s nothing knew under the sun…
Jesus told us these end days would be as it was in Noah’s day. (Matthew 24:37)
It’s interesting to read Genesis Chapter 6 and realize that Noah’s sons inhabited the land that Revelation refers to as Babylon.
In the Book of Revelation, chapters 17 and 18, God’s judgment fell on Babylon for her fornication. “The kings of the earth who committed fornication and lived in luxury with her (Babylon) will weep and lament for her, when they see the smoke of her burning.” (Revelation 18:9)
How does a nation commit fornication?
Like a plague, one person at a time! Could it be that people turn away from scripture because they desire other gods to worship? That would certainly open the door to demon activity and sexual depravity in their lives.
Holy Intercession Required!
We can see corruption getting into schools, colleges, universities, government, businesses, and on and on. Intercessors, let’s take hold of these things and let Holy Spirit guide us into those heavenly arenas to pull down those strongholds over our cities. Bringing in the harvest of souls is at the top of our list now. I like to use a map of my state to pray over.
And let’s be bold to tell family and friends who are living together that they may be going down a road, a road of “no return back to God.” Sin can produce a hardened heart that may not be able to repent. Without repentance there is no forgiveness of sin. See Hebrews 6:1-8.
Please feel free to copy the scriptures about fornication and send it or give it to those living in sin. It’s time to be bold Saints! You might also give them to your Pastor. This needs to be taught from the pulpit!
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
