"He shall set me high upon a rock."
Psalm 27:5
“Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him…” Hebrews 3:1-2
What exactly does it mean to be High Priest of our confession?
Moses and the Levitical priesthood were called by God to be mediators between God and man. Jesus Christ was faithful to Him who appointed Him as Apostle and High Priest. He was the Word made flesh to dwell among men. John 1:14.
Jesus the Word can never be separated from the Word because they are the same.
Jesus and the Father can never be separated.
Jesus and His anointing can never be separated.
- Jesus is faithful to His Father.
- Jesus is faithful to the Word.
- Jesus is faithful to His Brethren who put the Word first place, or we could say put His promises as final authority in their lives.
- Jesus is High Priest over our confession of His Word.
- Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith.
His Word is From Another Kingdom
His Word is Our Word When We Speak It
When Jesus died on the cross, He said, “It is finished.”
All things we have need of while on earth have already been supplied.
The written Word is already complete and established. Every need is met by His Word: His promise. Peter puts it this way:
“as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness,
- through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
- by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises,
- that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature,
- having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” 2 Peter 1:3-4
“It is the Spirit that gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63
It is the Spirit that quickens or brings the Word, (Seed,) to life, similar to when a farmer plants seed in the soil. See Mark 4:13-20
Is Jesus appointed to see to it that all the words we speak in a day come to pass? No!
Thank God for that. Jesus is not High Priest over idle words, negative words, complaining words, fear-filled words, gossip words, hateful words, etc. Why? Because there’s no faith or life in them. They are contrary to the way the Kingdom of God operates.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” Proverbs 18:21
"A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.
"But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.
"For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
Matthew 12:35-37
Pressure to speak negative words is part of the devil’s game. When he catches you saying them he will try to bring them to pass.
Thank God for Jesus our Advocate.
Thank God for Jesus our High Priest and Intercessor, who offered not the blood of bulls and goats for sin, but His own precious Blood, which forever speaks on our behalf.
“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
Although our High Priest is abundant in mercy and long-suffering with our weaknesses, let us desire to pursue the higher way of life that we may leave behind carnal ways that are contrary to God’s blessings.
“Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so.” James 3:10
Pressure to speak evil words is the devil’s tool to gain access to steal, kill and destroy.
Our High Priest desires that we live every day as overcomers who experience life abundantly through His promises.
“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
“And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.
“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love…”
Ephesians 4:29 – 5:2
JESUS OUR EXAMPLE
- Jesus only did those things He saw His Father do.
- He only spoke those words He heard His Father say.
- His brethren are to be led by the Holy Spirit.
- His brethren are to continually align themselves to what is written in the book on how to live and what to speak.
- This is the road to freedom and the abundant life.
"If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.” John 13:15-17
ANSWERED PRAYERS: Bringing God’s Kingdom to Earth
When we have a need we are to find the promise that covers that need. No one else can do this for you. When we agree with what the Word says and speak it from our heart, activation or quickening takes place. It is where the LIVE Word resides. John 6:63
This is the same process that took place when you were born again. You as a spirit-being, new creation, have the ability to be that good and fertile ground that brings forth good fruit all the time. The Word of God is loaded with provision to meet every need. Every need, dear Saint!
THE HIGH PRIEST
“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.” Hebrews 4:14
When we as Holy Brethren speak God’s Word and walk by faith in love and patience, Jesus will be faithful to see to it that His Word will come to pass. He is faithful to His assignment.
“So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
“And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.” Mark 16:19-20
