" ... upholding all things
by the word
      of His power ..."
Hebrews 1:3
__________________________________________________________

Dear Saints,
“FOREVER, O LORD,
YOUR WORD IS SETTLED IN HEAVEN.” Psalm 119:89

And His Word was written that it might be spoken…Selah

God and His Word are one.
What He speaks (and is written) is an expression of Himself, His will, His thoughts, His desires, His plans, His love, His faith, His knowledge, etc. What He speaks is Him—not separate from Him, for He is pure truth.

God’s Words are not inconsistent, frivolous or impulsive like the many words which come forth from unsaved man. Man’s words are dependant on earthly knowledge which is limited and in continual change.

God’s words are constant, firm, unchangeable, reliable, trustworthy, fixed, sure and immovable. Because they are eternal, God’s Words remain the same yesterday, this day, and tomorrow.

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”

God is “upholding all things with the word of His power,” and He has “magnified His word above His name.”  Wow!

When God speaks, His Words produce what He said, either for the present or prophetically— according to His times and seasons.

His Word
Let’s study about this very important subject which reveals foundational truths of who God is and who we are as the Body of Christ.

In the Beginning God Created
“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” Hebrews 11:3

Made in God’s Image and Likeness
“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion…over all the earth… So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish…over the birds…over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:26-28

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” Genesis 2:7

Authority
We know from Genesis that Adam and Eve fell because of their disobedience to God’s Word. All the seed of humanity would struggle under bondage and fear because they chose to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil instead of choosing the tree of life.

But God had a plan for man’s redemption even before He made the worlds. Revelation 13:8

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John1:1

When God Became a Man
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

“To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Revelation 1:5-6

“… All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go therefore and
make disciples of all the nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you;
and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.”
Matthew 28:18-20

“Forever, O Lord,
Your word is settled (stands firm) in heaven.” Psalm 119:89
God spoke the world into existence by His Word.
All of man’s needs were provided before man was created. His word is there…permanently settled in heaven.

PRAYER
When you pray come into agreement with what He has declared.

Everything has already been done through our Savior. Jesus said He is the bread which came down from heaven and “The words I speak to you are spirit and they are life.” His words still exist and are just as powerful.

Where?

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ…” Ephesians 1:3

The Eternal God does not think like His children who are living life on earth…one day at a time. He knows and speaks from an eternal point of view. He wants our minds renewed so that we can think and do the same; after all, He is our Father.

“Declaring the end from the beginning,
And from ancient times things that are not yet done,
Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand,
And I will do all My pleasure ...’ ”
Isaiah 46:10

Our Father calls things that be not, (do not exist in the natural yet) as though they did exist. Why?
Because he sees and knows they are just as real in the spirit realm, where He dwells.

Abraham…Father of Many Nations
Abraham literally means “Father of a Multitude.”
He is not only Father to those who are circumcised but also to the uncircumcised who believe…multitudes of people!

Yet God said this was who Abram was while he was impotent and while Sarai was still barren.

God gave them a new identity when he gave them a new name. They believed they received a son because they believed ... “Sarah shall bear to you (a son) at this set time next year.” Genesis 17:21

FULLY PERSUADED
Abram and Sarai conceived first in the spirit, and then acted on what they received in the natural, and a year later Isaac was born. Abraham was circumcised, a seal of the righteousness of faith. Read Genesis 17 and Romans Chapter Four.

By Grace through Faith
Throughout eternity those things that you and I have accomplished through faith in God’s Word will follow us; most importantly the act of salvation.

“But the righteousness of faith speaks in this way, “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Christ down from above)  or, “‘Who will descend into the abyss?’”(that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).

“But what does it say?

“The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.’ ” Romans 10:6-11

Without this revelation, no one can be born again and enter the Kingdom of God.
John 3:5

Old Covenant Similarities
“For this commandment which I command you today is not too mysterious for you, nor is it far off. It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will ascend into heaven for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’

“But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it.

“See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.

“But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.

“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;  that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.” Deuteronomy 30:11-20

The Better Covenant
“And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, ‘In you all the nations shall be blessed.’
So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.” Galatians 3:8-9

SPIRITUAL LAW:
Everything produces after its own kind.

See Genesis 1:11, and 1 Corinthians 15:38.

Children are Born from a Seed
We are born again of the incorruptible seed—the living Word of God. 1 Peter 1:23

If everything produces after its own kind, i.e., birds don’t produce dogs, an avocado seed won’t produce an orange tree, and so on, then we should produce after God’s Word.

We should be planting and harvesting whatever the promise says.

We should produce God’s Word far more than we do.
All of the promises of God belong to us as children of The Word.

What’s the problem then?

Unbelief, ignorance, being conformed to the world instead of being transformed by the renewing of our mind will keep the Word dormant.

And let’s not forget something else.

The traditions of men make the Word of God of NO EFFECT and will certainly affect how we pray and the results we get. See Mark 7:13 and Colossians 2:8-10.

BEGGING GOD…FOR WHAT?
“Has He said, and will He not do?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” Number 23:19

Attach your faith to the promise. If you can find it in the Book, it is already settled in heaven. It is still there…full of life!

Death and Life are in the Power of the Tongue: Proverbs 18:21
Words are carriers of thoughts. That’s why thoughts need to be monitored and taken captive all the time. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

God’s Words have creative power within them to accomplish, to produce His good ways, which is how God’s Kingdom gets established on earth. But He needs them spoken!

“You will also declare a thing,
And it will be established for you;
So light will shine on your ways.”
Job 22:28

CHOOSE LIFE
It was spoken, that it might be written.
It was written, that it might be spoken.

Go through the process of “steadfast faith.”
Receive the desired end. See How To Exercise Your Faith

But remember, God is love and faith works through…LOVE!
Forgive offenses quickly…

"You will keep him in perfect peace,
whose mind is stayed on You,
because he trusts in You."
Isaiah 26:3
__________________________________________________________

Dear Saints,
Perfect peace! That is something we all desire to live in every day.

The mind is affected with what is in our heart.
Let's look at the things that affect our inward man so that we can keep our mind focused on the LORD and His ways.

“…of whom we have much to say, and hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.” Hebrews 5:11

Becoming Dull of Hearing

What does this mean?
It means the Believer is going deaf!

It is the inability to receive revealed knowledge from the Kingdom of God.

It means the heart of a Believer is becoming hard or callous to the Word of God.

This reduces the ability to hear/understand revelation knowledge and sets a course of becoming like-minded to the world and partaking of its ways, which is evil. “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” See 1 John 2:15-17.

It means the ability of the inward man to see, to hear, and to understand spiritual things is narrowing and drying up. It is like seeing a once vibrant flowing river become nothing more than a trickle of water flowing over a few small rocks.

Why?
Let’s study why this happens so we can avoid "loss of hearing."

THE SOWER SOWS THE WORD: Mark Chapter Four
“To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables…”

Those on the outside do not have a heart that is fully seeking the LORD with the desire to obey. They are “observers.”

Thorny Ground…A Thorny Heart
“Now these are the ones sown among thorns; they are the ones who
hear the word,
and the cares of this world,
the deceitfulness of riches,
and the desires for other things
entering in choke the word,
and it becomes unfruitful.”

Fruitful Ground…A Fruitful Heart
“But these are the ones sown on good ground,
those who hear the word,
accept it,
and bear fruit:
some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”

WHEN FRUITFUL GROUND BEGINS TO HARDEN
A farmer knows the importance of preparing the soil, planting the seed, watering, fertilizing and protecting it. One of the deadliest things that can happen to a farm is a drought.

Definition of Drought: period of dry weather; lack of rain: scarcity, lack, shortage, deficiency, want, need, insufficiency

The heart of every Believer is where the Holy Spirit dwells. It is the good place of the Kingdom of God. See Luke 17:21.

The subject of the Parable of the Sower is the Word of God (seed) which remains ineffective (dormant) until it is planted (received) in the heart, the spirit of man.

This is what the challenge is all about.

The Kingdom of God cannot come forth without the Word of God!

Those Believers who will not allow the Seed to be removed from them, under any circumstances, are called good ground. Those are the only ones who produce fruit.

But just because a Believer produced much fruit twenty years ago, doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to guard his heart anymore. “For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.” Hebrews 5:12

Water
The heart needs to be continually fed and washed with God’s Word, “… that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25-27

Fruitful and fertile ground can begin to harden if not watered. Over time it will become so solid and firm that nothing will grow in it. Absolutely nothing!

For a Christian, that scenario will bring disastrous results. How does this happen?
Well, it doesn’t happen overnight. There is a strategic process that is taking place to separate the Believer from the Word of God which they did not correct.

There can be different reasons for this. If you have noticed your heart hardening, go to the Medicine Cabinet for help. You may also want to set a day aside to fast and seek the Word.

2015: OVERCOMING IN THE END DAYS

Let’s look at four strategies the enemy uses to try and separate us from The Word of God.

The World
“We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.”
1 John 5:19

Those of you who have learned about the Blood Moons in 2014 and 2015 know very well that God is showing His signs in the heavens to get man’s attention. Over the last two years, our world has changed significantly and will continue to change because we are getting close to the beginning of the tribulation period. We can certainly see the “sway of the wicked one” advancing around us.

The LORD’S prayer, recorded in John 17, tells us we are not of this world, just as He is not of this world. We can be assured that wherever we go, He is with us to protect us and keep us, even to the end of the age.

And He has a glorious plan for the End Days Church!

Choices
But, just as it was for Adam and Eve in the garden, we do have our part to play, for there are always choices before us…now more than ever. From the time we get up in the morning, the sway of the world will be pulling for our attention.

Sometimes even trying to study the word can be a challenge because of interruptions. If we are aware of them, we can decide ahead of time not to allow them to divert us from our time with the LORD.

Distractions, Restlessness, Multitasking
Distract/Distraction: to draw away, divert, perplex, disturb, worry, confuse, disorder; diversion, amusement, entertainment

Restlessness: always in motion, never at rest, unsettled, nervous, agitated, jittery, fretful, anxious, excitable, impatient, worried

Multitask: to perform two or more tasks simultaneously. This is not a problem for necessary daily tasks. But it is if you’re trying to study God’s Word and find yourself trying to do other things intermittently.

Focus
Definition of Focus: the concentration of attention or energy on something

Antonyms: unfocused, adrift, scatterbrained, aimless, disorganized; to disperse, separate, divide, neglect

Synonyms: direction, guidance, counsel, instruction, focal point, centered

The Holy Spirit—Our Helper
Jesus said He would give us help. His Spirit is always guiding us…but if we do not choose to listen to Him, our hearts will harden to the point where we can’t hear Him.

Then how can we do the greater works?
Read John 14:12-21 often.

TIME
I believe time is being shortened or compressed the closer we get to the coming of the LORD. Someone said, “That’s just because you’re getting older.”

Recently I was talking with my nine-year old friend as we were shopping. He said he was surprised at how fast this past year had gone. “It seems like the year just started. Then there was summer, and now we’re coming into the Christmas season.”

“Do you think that time is moving faster?”

“Yes.”

This in itself may produce pressure, trying to get things done. That’s all the more reason to seek first the Kingdom of God every day. Matthew 6:33. Many around us are in fear and turmoil, but we have been given His Spirit and knowledge that they do not have.

“And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Read Matthew 24:12-14.

The world will know us by our love.
“By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 13:35

TURNING FROM GOD: One heart at a time…

Turning from God begins in the heart and can spread through a nation. Since I was a child many things in our country have changed. It’s sad to watch a nation turn from the good ways of God.

We see a deterioration of God’s laws and ways in our communities and in our nation. Have you noticed how the word “Christmas” is being removed and how rare it is to see a nativity scene decoration in your neighborhood? But all of this is nothing new for Him.

THE OLD COVENANT
"This sentence is by the decree of the angelic watchers and the decision is a command of the holy ones, in order that the living may know that the Most High is ruler over the realm of mankind, and bestows it on whom He wishes and sets over it the lowliest of men." Daniel 4:17

Many, many times the children of Israel turned away from their Beloved and His Covenant to worship other gods. He then would bring discipline to the nation. How? He brought correction by allowing wicked men/nations to rule over them.

Only an awakening to God can save our nation.
Prayer paves the way for revival.
This is why the heart of the intercessor must be full of God’s Word and be protected from the world. Our ministry comes forth from our spirit.

Where’s your heart?
“Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent.”
Revelation 2:4-5

Where’s your faith?
“Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
Luke 18:8

Closing Comments
Let’s take a heart exam:
What have you been seeking after this past week?
What place has the study of God’s Word/prayer taken in your life…first or last place?
When you hear The Word preached, do you think, “Oh, I’ve heard that a million times?”
Are you fervent to do what The Word says? Are you able to hear?
Do you think God’s laws are not relevant for today’s society?
Who are you in close fellowship with?
Have you let your church attendance slip?
Are you endeavoring to walk in faith, hope, and love?
Are you so busy with church ministry/activities that you don’t have time to spend with the LORD?
Are you watching things you shouldn’t?
Are you drinking alcohol to get free of pressure?
Are you worried about your safety?

Suggested Assignment:
The Hebrew scribes taught that the study of God’s Word quieted the mind.
I have found that writing the scriptures down in my journal can force the mind to slow down and focus. And we also know that God’s Word is alive with nourishment!

Psalm 119—Twenty-two Days of Renewing the Mind
I would like to challenge you and ask you to join me in reading and writing one section of this Psalm each day, i.e., .... Day One: write verses 1 through 8, the following day: verses 9-16, and so on. Look for a particular verse that Holy Spirit will illuminate each day that you can meditate on.
