Dear Saints,
This is Part 4 of a study of Matthew 16:13-20. Part 1 – 3 are below. Just scroll down.

May God bless you abundantly as He manifests Himself to you in this important teaching about who you are, and our assignment together as The Glorious Church.

Pause and pray in the Spirit for a few minutes before continuing on so that the mysteries of His Kingdom will be understood.

“…I will build My church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:18-19

The gates CANNOT prevail against The Church.
Who is The Church? It is a living, moving, massive amount of born again people who are one in Jesus. It is you and it is me. See Jesus’ prayer in John 17.

God’s church on the earth for the past two thousand years has, at different times, almost come to a halt in its mission to preach the gospel and make disciples. Do you suppose as previous generations were born they forgot they were given keys that were to be used against those gates of evil? Nevertheless, The Church is still here, Praise God, and stronger than ever with hundreds of millions of Spirit-filled Christians in every nation, who are fervent to bring in the world’s harvest.

What do you think would keep God’s people from using the keys?

Let’s look again at what these keys are. Notice there is more than one key.

They come by revelation.
They operate by faith through love.
These keys prevail against the gates of hell.
When you need access, keys will open every door.
These keys dominate over evil.
They are to bind and they are to loose.
It is not up to Jesus to use these keys. They have been given to The Church. That means you and me have the responsibility to use them.
The world has no knowledge of these keys because Jesus did not give them to the world.

Where are these keys from? Heaven! Think about that, dear one.

“And I have put My words in your mouth; I have covered you with the shadow of My hand, that I may plant the heavens, lay the foundations of the earth, and say to Zion, 'You are My people.’” Isaiah 51:16

Power keys come forth through The Glorious Church on earth to do work in the spiritual realm. They loose heaven’s ways upon earth. They can control anything. They put us in authority over the whole natural system.

These keys only work in conjunction with the Holy Spirit.
“A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.”
John 3:27

“But as it is written: Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. 1 Corinthians 2:9-10

How do we activate power from Heaven? Know that it is within us!

Your Mouth——Your Words
Activation of power keys comes by revelation, knowledge, action and continual practice! The power is locked up in God’s word for a reason. But when faith in God’s word is deposited in the heart, that which we speak has dominion to bind and loose and change things. After all, that is the process that led to your Kingdom birth!

“…He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit…” John 7:38-39

“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Mark 11:23

When we believe (faith) that our words are accompanied by the power of the Holy Spirit, they become the sword of the Spirit. “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing…” Hebrews 4:12

This brings us back to God’s armor and His power weapon: the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God…“praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful...” This sword will lie dormant until it is spoken by unction and command. See Ephesians 6 17-18.

What these keys produce:

God’s Presence
God’s Power
God’s Authority
God’s Dominion

And they loose God’s blessing: His abundant goodness and love for His creation.

When we use the keys of Heaven correctly they produce manifestation, anointing, and demonstration.

Operation and access to the keys and the power they produce flow through the vine, who is Jesus. When we abide in Him and His word abides in us we can ask whatever we desire and it shall be done for us.

He controls the magnitude of this power. He said: “Without Me you can do nothing.” Read John 15:1-12

But with Him, all things are possible!

Life Application

What are you binding and loosing in prayer?
Are you praying from your seat in Christ Jesus?
Are your personal needs being met?
What are you binding and loosing over your cities and counties?
Are you praying in the Spirit? Remember, it strengthens you.

God never gives you an assignment without providing the provision to succeed, and to overcome all the works of the devil. That’s why you have those keys!

Walk by faith, live in love, pursue your destiny keeping your eyes on Jesus the Author and Finisher of your faith. Today could be the day of His return!

Dear Prayer,
May God open up to you the hidden mysteries of the Kingdom of God that you may prosper in all you are assigned to do for Him.

This is Part 3 of a study of Matthew 16:13-20. Scroll down the page for Part 1 and Part 2.

From Matthew 16, write verses 17-19 in your journal today.
Write down what you think is the most important point in each of these verses.

Recap—Revealed Knowledge
Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?”
Then in vs.15 He asked the disciples, “But who do you say that I am?”

When you were asked that question and believed in your heart what Father had revealed to you about His Son, you were born again by grace through faith, not of yourself but by the glorious gift of God! You were born of an incorruptible seed through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit, not according to the will of man, but of God. You became a new creation in Christ Jesus, a member of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. This is a great mystery…Christ and His church.

The Glorious Church
“I will build My church…” vs. 18

Who is the Builder and who does The Church belong to?
Is it a building down the street from you?

Oh, the glorious church is a body of believers without spot or wrinkle, sanctified by continual washing of water by the word of God, a church holy and without blemish! Jesus, the Head of The Church, is very much at work in His body in our day as revelation knowledge and hidden mysteries are being opened up to our generation. Why? The End Days church has a specific and spectacular assignment to harvest the world. That’s why you were born in this time.

Your sanctification, cleansing and separation from the world’s evil system are absolutely vital to you personally. Ephesians 5:26-27. Also, how you live your life will affect the rest of His body. As you grow, I grow. As I develop, you develop. “But now indeed, there are many members, yet one body.” The Spirit Himself is distributing to each one individually, as He wills. Praise God, you are vitally needed! You are to be growing up spiritually and maturing every day.

Everyone who partakes of milk is unskilled in the Word of righteousness, but filet mignon is served to those who are of full age! The stronger we get, the stronger we get. See Hebrews 5:13-14.

Sanctification activates the shield of faith and affects all of God’s armor. Why? How can you effectively fight and defeat an enemy if you are eating the goodies he has prepared on his table? No, no! We should not partake of darkness.

“In this the love of God is manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.” 1 John 4:9. This is the only way The Church becomes an effective witness.

Authority—Dominion—Power
This glorious church assigned to operate on planet earth today is to make known the manifold wisdom of God to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places…which He has already accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access…Ephesians 3:9-12

That’s why Jesus has given you keys that keep Heaven open, keys to bind up and keys that loose. You must be wise and be led of the Holy Spirit to use Kingdom weapons which are NOT carnal.

Read Ephesians 6:10-20
Make a list of God’s armor that you are required to wear.

Do you remember reading the book of Nehemiah? He was on assignment to lead God’s people to rebuild the shattered wall of Jerusalem. In spite of great opposition and harassment from their enemies, Nehemiah and the people worked continuously with “construction tools in one hand and weapons in the other.” Nehemiah Chapter 4 is a great example of determination, purpose and victory. Do you know how this great victory began? See Chapter 1.

They did the impossible because God was with them, completing the wall of Jerusalem in only 52 days!

“…I will build My church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

The Church has many, many assignments: Preach the gospel of the kingdom to every nation, make disciples of all nations…teaching, casting out demons, healing the sick. We are to be the salt of the earth, the light of the world! And, of course, there are assignments within the church: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers, equipping the saints for the work of the ministry in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. Praise the Lord!

Assignment: PRAYER
Power prayers that operate by faith make a way for the other parts of the Body to function safely and effectively. Power prayers go into the future to change things that desire to hinder, block and prevent the gospel from operating in its dominion. Power prayers for The Church loose Heaven’s resources to accomplish the impossible.

Intercessors have two birthrights to operate from. One birth certificate declares our constitutional rights from the United States Government. The other unseen document and far more powerful birthright is from the Kingdom of Heaven out of which came forth all that exists.

Let’s pray from our Heavenly seat of authority in Christ Jesus which is far above all principalities, powers and dominions. Loose the dominion of light, life and love as you pray for The Church, The Lost and Elected Leaders!

Dear Believer,
Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Get your Bible, your journal, and a pen, and set some time to study God’s Word today so that it will get down into your heart and remain with you. The Holy Spirit is going to reveal something important to you today!

Father, in Jesus name, as we study your living word today, we expect your Spirit to teach, guide, and impart understanding that we may be strengthened in the inner man. Thank you, Lord, we receive.

Let’s continue our study from last week. Read Matthew 16:13-20

Gates and Keys
…”I will build My church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Gates
Vines Dictionary definition of gates:
They were viewed as synonymous with power and further suggest that they stood for those who held government and administered justice.

In the natural realm, a gate is a movable framework or solid structure that swings on hinges controlling entrance and exit through an opening. The Lord is not referring to a gate that can be seen but one that cannot be seen, yet is very real and operates in the spiritual realm to control.

Since we know this gate is of the kingdom of darkness, we can assume that kingdom does not want to allow entrance to what is on the other side, which is God’s Kingdom. Neither do they want God’s dominion, righteousness and love released into the earth to produce life and goodness. How do they prevent this? By keeping The Church bound up, ignorant and weak.

But, revealed knowledge of the truth is rising up in our day to bring forth big, big changes now as Believers take hold of who they are and what has rightfully been given to them. The sleeping giant has awakened to the voice of the Master! We are on pursuit to fulfill our end-time assignments as we reach forward to those things which are ahead and press in for the glory of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus! This is our confidence: Our God is with for us!

”I will build My church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

From last week’s study, who now has the keys of Hades?

What scripture is that from?

Jesus has disarmed principalities and powers. Colossians 2:15
Father has seated Jesus at His right hand far above all principalities, power, and every name named. He put all things under Jesus feet and made Him to be head over all things to the church, His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all. God made us alive together with Christ, raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ. See Ephesians 1:19-23 and 2:6
It is from this seat that we pray effectively.

“And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Keys
Let’s be mindful that Jesus is giving you and me something that is extremely powerful and significant to the building of His Church.

What are these keys and what do they do?

They are spiritual
They are power from the Source of all power
They keep Heaven open
They lock up or bind
They unlock or loose

Commentary
These power keys only operate in the spirit. That is the realm that changes things in the earthly, natural realm. The spiritual realm produced the earthly realm didn’t it? Genesis Chapter 1 and Hebrews 11:3 declare this truth: “Things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” Praise God! This is good news for us who are citizens of Heaven and required to operate in both realms. We are authorized to change the world!

2 Corinthians 4:18 reveals that everything in the earthly realm is temporary: subject to change by the eternal realm. This is how Abraham and Sarah produced Isaac.

When “faith keys” are in operation, functioning correctly, they bring days of heaven on the earth. Jesus instructed us to pray for God’s will to be done on earth as it is done in heaven. It is our faith that is the victory that overcomes the world and its system of chaos and devastation.

The Holy Spirit Himself leads us to pray prayers empowered with authority.

They can overcome ANYTHING devised from the curse. Why? Because Jesus became the curse, the sacrifice for all sin: Adam’s transgression at the beginning. He paid the price to get The Blessing of dominion back to its rightful owners, the children of God. We owe Him everything! See Galatians 3:13-14.

Don’t leave your keys on the table. They were bought with blood.

Life Applications
What is your reason for living?
Do you know why you were born at this specific time in earth’s history?
Do you know “the hope of His calling?” Ephesians 1:18
Are you experiencing His power as you pray?
Are you praying in tongues?
Can you see your state in revival?
Do you realize how important you are?

God bless you today PWP Minister! Get your Bible, your journal and pen handy for our first Bible Study under our divine Teacher: The Spirit of God.

Let’s agree:
Father, we come boldly before you today to receive revealed knowledge that we may be strengthened with might in our inner man and produce the fruits of love and righteousness in our lives and power in our prayers. In Jesus name, I receive. Praise the Lord!

Keep in mind we might all have different answers on this teaching. Remember, scripture is multifaceted, like hikers who take different trails and see different things. Different views, different thoughts. As long as the Holy Spirit is the Guide, we’ll stay in order.

Read Matthew 16:13 -20

Let’s zero in on vs.15:
He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?"
Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.

“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”

“And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

Make a list of what you consider to be the most important truths that Jesus gave us in this passage.

Here are my thoughts:
“Who do you say that I am?” Peter answered Jesus’ question from revealed truth that was given to him in his spirit. "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

Revelation knowledge is knowledge that doesn’t come from this earthly realm. It is knowledge not previously known that is opened up and released into the believer’s spirit. Father gave Peter the answer to Jesus’ question. Father always speaks truth. Always! That is why we can trust Him.

Jesus adds further revelation knowledge: “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven.”

Expect blessings when you receive knowledge and answers in the inner man. Why? Revelation knowledge carries with it a grace or ability to empower you and transform your thoughts from one realm to another.

Faith is the acceptance of and belief in that reveled knowledge.

Kingdom Truth: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Christ means: Anointed.
Christ means Messiah: Old Testament term applied to priests who were anointed with the holy oil, particularly the High Priest.

The Father has revealed who His Son really is, cutting through all the lies of reincarnation that men had suggested in vs.14.

Jesus is in agreement with what Father has spoken.

Are you in agreement with what Father has spoken about you? Just as the fulfillment of Jesus’ earthly ministry was attached to what Father said about Him, so is the fulfillment of your earthly ministry attached to what God’s Word has declared about you.

“…you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church…”
The Church belongs to Jesus and He is the Builder!

What rock will it be built on? The revelation of who Jesus is.
He certainly is not referring to building the church on a mortal man, for this does not line up with other scriptures that declare no other foundation can be laid except Jesus Christ.
See 1 Corinthians 3:9-15 and 1Timothy 2:5-6

The solid rock and foundation of the church is two-fold:

Jesus Christ is the solid foundation.
The revelation of who Jesus is changes the heart of a sinner to become a New Creation in Christ Jesus.

You could not have become a Christian, unless Father had revealed His Son to you. When you acknowledged that truth by faith, Jesus opened the door for you to become part of His Body, The Church. You went through that door and so did I. Praise God that makes us family! See Psalm 127:1 and John 10:9

“…the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it…”
Jesus has the keys of Hades and death! Rev. 1:17-18
When Jesus was raised up, you were raised up. Praise God!
Read Ephesians 1:20-23 and 2:6.

As a member of His family, you are provided with keys to get into Fathers’ house anytime you please. Not only that but those keys He gave to His church are to be used to lock up and unlock things necessary to enforce God’s will on the earth.

We’ll get into those keys in next week’s study.

Commentary
Father revealed to you and I who Jesus is. When we believed that revelation and confessed Him as our Lord and Savior, we were born from above, received eternal life, a new identity, and were adopted into God’s family: The Church.

We now operate in this world under a new system of beliefs and power called the Kingdom of God where Jesus is The Head. We’re in this world but not of it.
Dual occupancy; dual citizenship. See Philippians 3:20

Revelation knowledge is a major priority in operating in your Kingdom rights and benefits that Jesus died to give you. They are the roots of who you are and what you can do. Jesus came to give you life and that you may experience it more abundantly in Him! In Him we live and move and have our being.

Life Application Questions
Do you ever feel like you don’t fit in?
Are you striving to be accepted by others?
Are you doing some things so that you will be approved by others?
Are you afraid of what others think about you?
Are you trying to attain perfection by your works?

Prayer with Purpose Assignment – The Lost
As you pray and intercede for The Lost in your counties, pray that they will be hungry for Jesus. Pray that they will receive and act on the revelation knowledge of who Jesus is and be born again. Pray for them to have eyes to see and ears to hear and understand the message of salvation. Pray for a spirit of repentance to fall on your state.
