"Grace to you
and peace from Him
who is
and who was
and who is to come ..."
Revelation 1:4

The Messiah
“The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
“To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn…” Isaiah 61:1-2 KJV
New Testament Fulfillment: Jesus Christ
“And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
“And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to:
- preach the gospel to the poor
- he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted
- to preach deliverance to the captives
- and recovering of sight to the blind
- to set at liberty them that are bruised
- to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
“And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. And he began to say unto them, this day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth.
“And they said, ‘Is not this Joseph's son?’” Luke 4:14-22
The Revelation of Jesus
Jesus was revealing who He was to the people in the regions around Nazareth.
- He was operating in the power of the Holy Spirit. See Acts 10:38
- As He was teaching the people, they glorified Him.
- Then He revealed who He was to the people that knew Him in His own home town.
- He went to the Old Testament scriptures to reveal His identity.
- He declared: the acceptable year of the Lord had come.
“This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.”
They all marveled and gave witness at His gracious words. Praise God!
That is, until some began to say, “Is this not Joseph’s son?” Uh oh!
That statement came from those who denied who Jesus said He was; after all, they saw Him grow up and thought they knew His Dad. Jesus had just declared Himself the Messiah but hardened hearts declared Him a liar. In fact, Luke 4:29 says these people wanted to throw Him over a cliff.
Why? Someone else is involved in this picture, someone not seen.
“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
See 2 Corinthians 4:3-4.
The lost are blinded because the god of this world has deceived them and is blocking the truth from their minds. Well then, is it hopeless? Certainly not! Otherwise you would not have been born again yourself.
“And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins: wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
“Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) and hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
“That in the ages to come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:1-9
Intercession: Someone Prayed for You
Out of a heart of love for you and love for God, someone prayed for you to have understanding and knowledge of who Jesus is. Perhaps you know who that person was. Even if you don’t know who prayed for you, there will come a day when you will know who gave of themselves in prayer so you could find Jesus.
You and I are praying for the lost in our cities and states, those we don’t even know.
Ah, but some day we will know them!
Until then, it’s God’s plan for us to stand in the gap for the disobedient.
Jesus has given us authority over all the power of the enemy. We can bind spiritual forces and interfere with their schemes so that blindness will be removed from those who are held captive. We can change circumstances and create situations that will bring the lost face to face with Jesus Christ.
Jesus paid the price for every soul to be saved and delivered. He yearns for them.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me…to preach deliverance to the captives.”
Luke 4:18
Only God can reveal God!
We do the work of intercession in cooperation with the Holy Spirit who is sent to reveal the truth to the unsaved. Read John 16:5-15. Always follow Him in prayer.
In Him and through Him is where the power is.
Incorrect Religious Assumptions
Just like those who grew up in Jesus' home town, many in our communities have rejected Jesus based on wrong assumptions, perhaps going back to wrong teachings they learned as children. What is taught in some traditional churches about Jesus is far from what is true about Jesus.
The unsaved don’t have a clue what Jesus has redeemed them from.
This is where you and I can help them.
THE GLORIOUS CHURCH: Intercessors for The Lost
Since The Church is Christ’s Body, we also are anointed by God.
We can and should pray the scriptures in Isaiah Chapter 61 and expect to be empowered to fulfill our assignments to “rebuild the old ruins, raise up the former desolations, repair the cities, the desolations of many generations.” Isaiah 61:4 Praise God!
The Revealing of Jesus Christ!

Suggestions for Praying for the Lost
- Ask the Father to pour out His Holy Spirit on all flesh in your state.
- Ask the Father to send a "spirit of repentance" into your cities.
“…how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? And then he will spoil his house.” Matthew 12:29
Say:
“You spirits blinding the minds and eyes of the lost in my city, stop what you are doing to keep them out of the Kingdom of God. In Jesus’ name stop it now!”
Jesus said, “Pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Matthew 9:38 Ask!
“We claim the lost in this city for God’s Kingdom. We believe we have revival here. People are getting saved and delivered, in Jesus’ name. To God be all the Glory!”
- Believe when you pray that you will see results.
- Bless your cities as you drive in the car.
- Bless your state.
- Call for the armies of Heaven to come into your cities.
- Pray for your schools.
- Love people.
- Tell them about how wonderful Jesus has been to you.
Pray for The Glorious Church to be bold and courageous, strengthened with might in their inner man. Ephesians 3:14-21
Praying for Elected Leaders:
Pray the prayer in Ephesians 1:17-19 for them.
Beloved, fear not! Our God knows how to have a revival.
And it's going to be big!
JESUS IS COMING SOON!
