“But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind."
James 1:6

“For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord;
he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways
."
  James 1:7-8

Two Minds
If we doubt we won’t receive anything from the Lord? Really?

Really! And having two minds will cause instability and instability can cause disorder, discord, conflict and mental anguish within the soul.

Why?

Doubt holds up a STOP sign to faith!

And faith is the connector to God’s promise.

“And Jesus answering saith unto them, ‘Have faith in God.’ (One mindedness.)

“For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”
Mark 11:22-23

Patience—The Supporter of Faith
“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”
James 1:4

“That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.” Hebrews 6:11-12

It is through faith AND patience that we inherit or obtain the promises of God.
Perfect, entire, wanting nothing! Patience is a powerful manifestation of the ways of God.

Patience: to abide, to endure; active persistence and perseverance in well doing; patient continuance.

Patience will speak to your soul and encourage you not to give up: “Stay steady, on course, for your faith is working and soon you will see it!”

The completion of patience is the manifestation of the promise of God.

Endurance, Diligence, and Discipline
Endurance:  the power or ability to last, continue, or remain; ability to stand courageously.
Diligence:  persevering and careful in work; steady and consistent effort.
Discipline:  training that develops self-control, character, orderliness and efficiency.

2013—Life in the Fast Line

Patience—Endurance—Diligence—Discipline.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not exactly seeing an abundance of these godly characteristics these days in government, business, schools, or even in churches. Many brethren are struggling.

Doubt, Double-Mindedness, and Unanswered Prayer
What would you say is the reason for doubt? Why do some pray the prayer of faith and then let it go without it being manifested?

Let’s target the main reason for being double-minded: the uncontrolled soul.

Jesus said, “By your patience possess your souls.” Luke 21:19

This is an inside job that each believer does for themselves. It isn't an automatic result of being born again. And it will always be a personal responsibility while we are on earth, just like brushing our teeth.

Your newly created spirit man should be dominating and controlling the soul, not the soul dominating the spirit. When this is out of order, life is out of order and there are consequences that come from this.

It is far better in the long run to bite the bullet, as they say, and get the soul in order with obedience to the scriptures.

“That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;”
1 Thessalonians 4:4 KJV

The Soul—What is it?

1.    Emotions-feelings
2.    Mind-intellect-reasoning
3.    Memory
4.    Imagination
5.    The Will

Feelings and Reasoning
Christians who are dominated by their feelings and make decisions based on their emotions will lead lives of turmoil, up and down, like being on a roller coaster ride. Feelings fluctuate and change continually for different reasons. I like what Smith Wigglesworth said: “I don’t ask Smith Wigglesworth how he feels today, I tell Smith Wigglesworth how he feels.”

The emotions have a powerful effect on the mind and can cause a Christian to reason himself into deception and being led the wrong way…even right into sin! Never base important decisions on feelings. We are to be led by God’s Word and His Spirit.

“Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.” Psalm 119:11

“Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21

“You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3

That means you and I have to monitor what we watch on TV and what we listen to in the world.

Memories
  • Good memories are a blessing and can be very powerful.

David, before facing the giant Goliath, remembered how God was with him when he was guarding his father’s sheep.

“But David said to Saul, "Your servant used to keep his father's sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it.

"Your servant has killed both lion and bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God. Moreover David said, "The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." And Saul said to David, "Go, and the LORD be with you!"

1 Samuel 17:34-37

Meditating on past victories can strengthen patience and faith to overcome temporary trials. As David spoke about the past, his faith kicked in to “call those things that be not as though they were.” David saw himself as champion over Goliath before he ever killed him!  Romans 4:17

  • But bad memories come to steal happy days.

People who are caught in this trap are like someone trying to drive their car looking in the rear-view mirror. They just can’t get to where they want to be. Accusations, guilt and condemnation are demonic strategies to keep Christians in fear and bondage.

Jesus paid the price for all our mistakes and sin in life. If you have asked for forgiveness,
Jesus’ Blood has annihilated them! He doesn’t remember them, why should you?

If you need to forgive someone else for an evil done to you, than do it! The devil would love to play that video and keep you in unforgiveness. Why? It will block your faith from working. And faith is the victory that overcomes the world.

If you are being harassed during sleep with unpleasant memories or fear, use your God-given authority over the devil. Read scriptures before you go to bed. Psalm 91 is a good chapter…the Most High and His angels have charge over you!

Imagination
A bad imagination is a thief. An unbridled imagination is like watching evil videos of your future. This is fear based. Self control is required!

“God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.”
2 Timothy 1:7

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
  • Casting down imaginations
  • And every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God
  • And bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
See 2 Corinthians 10:3-5. KJV

Your Imagination Needs Boundaries
We've all seen that unruly two year old throwing a tantrum in the store because Mom wouldn't buy him what he wanted. Hopefully that Mom is teaching him discipline and how to behave.

Your imagination can and should be continually supervised. Never allow your thoughts to run wild on evil images of your future. Counteract that by speaking scripture out loud…

“No weapon formed against me shall prosper!” Isaiah 54:17

A godly imagination needs:
  • To be ruled by scriptures
  • To meditate on the promises of God
When in order, they will produce faith and hope. And hope is the anchor of the soul. Hebrews 6:19

The Will
Jesus is our example.

“For I have come down from Heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” John 6:38

THE HOLY SPIRIT—OUR HELPER
He will help us to overcome and control the soul so that we will walk by faith and not by sight. Circumstances will not cause us to walk in doubt and unbelief when the soul is dominated by our spirit.

We believe we receive! Contrary thoughts are cast down!

"My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
John 14: 27

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus this week, let us take a second look at a previous lesson from  October 1, 2013, concerning Jesus’ ministry as our High Priest. This lesson exalts our Lord and Savior, what He has already done for us and His present day ministry.

As we give gifts to our family and friends, let us give the gift of love and worship to our Father who gave us the greatest gift we will ever receive.

"Therefore, holy brethren ...
partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, who was faithful to Him who appointed Him ... " Hebrews 3:1

Holy brethren,
Jesus became like you and me—flesh and blood—so we could become like Him. Jesus had to be made like His brethren to be a merciful and faithful High Priest.  Hebrews 2:17

Our Heavenly calling is divine. It is a call from another Kingdom that has all rule and power. We are to partake, or take part, of Heavens resources. They belong to us as much as they belonged to Jesus in His earthly ministry.

The operation of a successful ministry begins in the inner man where the Kingdom resides. We go inward to go upward. The new creation spirit-man is designed to dominate the soul and the body. Your feelings are not Lord over you.

“Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:23
Your heart is the place where the Word of God is stored. It is the place where the anointing—the rivers of living water flow. John 7:38

CONSIDER
Consider or “fix your mind” on The Apostle and High Priest Jesus who was sent to destroy the works of the devil. He was faithful to death, faithful to Him who appointed Him to complete His work. Although the work of redemption is complete, Jesus continues His ministry today.

“For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him.” Hebrews 2:8

Why?

Because man was given the divine right to choose or reject salvation through Jesus Christ. After the days of tribulation, though, we will see ALL things brought into order.

Jesus is always faithful to His Father and will always be faithful to His brethren to never leave us nor forsake us. He does not give aid to angels but He does give aid to us. His Holy Spirit has been “sent” with an assignment to be our strength and life-long Coach. Anything we have need of He is there to supply. He is the power of God within you and me to help us triumph over every circumstance.

Resurrection power is always involved in victory over the curse.

The Levitical Priesthood
Historical Background:
  • The formal priesthood was established after the Israelites were delivered from Egypt.
  • Their consecration and assignment was only given to Aaron and to his descendants.
  • They offered sacrifices for themselves and the people.
  • Each sacrifice was a demonstration that the penalty of sin is death. “For there can be no forgiveness of sin without the shedding of blood.” Hebrews 9:22
  • They acted as mediators between God and man.

The High Priest
Literal translation of high priest or head priest was “the great one chosen from his brothers,” and “ruler of the house of God.”
  • The high priest was the supreme religious head of the Hebrew people.
  • He had to be without physical defect and holy in conduct.
  • He was Israel’s advocate before God.
  • He was God’s spokesman to His people.
  • He offered a sin offering for his own sins and sins of the people.
  • He made atonement for the nation so God might accept their gifts and show favor to them.
  • He alone wore the Urim and Thummim which were used to learn the will of God in matters of importance. Exodus 28:30

Behind the Veil
Once a year on the Day of Atonement, the high priest would enter the Holy Place behind the veil. Having made sacrifice for himself and the people, he brought the blood offering into the Holy of Holies and sprinkled it on the mercy seat. This he did to make atonement for all the sins of the people that were committed the previous year.  See Hebrews Chapter 9.

JESUS CHRIST—The Sent One
Jesus, the Anointed Word, became flesh and dwelt among us. John 1:14

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

“All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist.” Colossians 1:15-17

“For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcileall things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having madepeace through the blood of His cross.” Colossians 1:19-20

Jesus Christ, “slain from the foundation of the world.” Revelation 13:8

JESUS—THE HIGH PRIEST
Jesus, merciful and faithful High Priest to God, became a man of the seed of Abraham.
  • He was called by God to His office as High Priest.
  • He is not a descendant of Aaron but of the tribe of Judah.
  • He is not of the order of Aaron but of the order of Melchizedek, a priest forever.
  • Jesus had no sin.
  • He offered His own Blood once for all.
  • His priesthood is eternal because He lives forever.
  • He performs His ministry, not in the earthly model as was given to Moses, but in the Heavenly sanctuary itself.
  • He is seated at the right hand of God.
  • His one-time offering for sin sanctifies His people.
For a closer look at our Lord’s ministry as High Priest read Hebrews Chapters 7-10.

HIGH PRIEST AND HEAD OF THE CHURCH:

Jesus’ Present Day Ministry
“…that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:26-27

Jesus is the Intercessor of each member of His Body.
“He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:24-25

Jesus paid the price for mankind to fellowship with Almighty God:
We may now come directly, without shame, into God’s Holy Presence because Jesus cleansed us and removed the veil.

“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”
1 Timothy 2:5

Jesus is Mediator of a better covenant:
“But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.” Hebrews 8:6

Jesus made the way for the better covenant:
"For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” Hebrews 8:10

Our Identification is with the Last Adam:
“And so it is written, ‘The first man Adam became a living being. The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.’  However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual.

“The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven.  As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly.

“And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.” 1 Corinthians 15:45-49

Jesus Fulfilled the Desire of His Father:
“To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is  Christ in you, the hope of glory.  Colossians 1:27

Jesus Present Day Ministry Reveals Kingdom Mysteries through His Spirit:
“However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory,

“which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

“But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’

“But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 2:6-10

Jesus High Priestly Ministry Fulfills His Prayer:
“…that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” John 17:21
_________________________________________________________________________________
Life Applications
Our identification as Christians is not to be formed from the transgression of what Adam did in the garden. We are who we are today because of the decision Jesus made in the Garden of Gethsemane. His sacrifice, His resurrection and His ascension to the right hand of God has made you an heir of God.  Romans 8:17

Renew your thinking and partake of the Heavenly calling as a New Creation who is one with God!

Closing Comments
Jesus endured the cross by faith, focusing on the joy that was set before Him.
Hebrews 12:2

I believe that joy was seeing you, full of faith, full of His Word and His Spirit.
Multiply that by millions of anointed Believers, partakers of the Heavenly calling, going forth to reconcile the world to God. Surely that is the joy that helped Jesus to endure the cross! His love for His Father and for us is unquenchable and eternal.

The End-Days Church is a glorious generation of Believers—Kings and Priests—who have received the gift of righteousness and are to reign in life by the One, Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:17

Our strength and divine abilities come from this:
WE KNOW WHO WE ARE!  2 Corinthians 5:21

"Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name;
Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
The voice of the LORD is over the waters;

The God of glory thunders;
The LORD is over many waters."
Psalm 29: 2-3

This is Part 5 of a study in Hebrews Chapter 12 & 13 —
Faith for the last days …

In previous lessons we have had an interesting study comparing things like Mount Sinai and Mount Zion; Earthly Man and Heavenly Man; Mortal Man and Immortality. We have learned about Holiness and Separation, The Glorious Church and The Harvest, and about The Coming of the Lord.

“But you have come to … the city of the living God …” Hebrews 12:22
“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.” Hebrews 12:28

This lesson will focus on how the new creation man must worship.

“For here we have no continuing city, but we seek the one to come.
Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”  Hebrews 13:14-15

TIME CHANGE
“
But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23-24

The Samaritan Woman at the Well
“The woman said to Him, ‘I know that Messiah is coming’ (who is called Christ). ‘When He comes, He will tell us all things.’”

“Jesus said to her, ‘I who speak to you am He.’” John 4:25-25

WORSHIP
  1. Worship is not a place.
  2. Recognize we worship the Father.
  3. You were created and designed to worship Him.
  4. You cannot worship someone you do not know. Job said, “Acquaint thyself with Him.”
  5. Just as men ought always to pray, men ought always to worship God.
  6. We worship Father in spirit and in truth from a humble and thankful heart of love.
  7. Father is seeking true worshippers.
  8. God is Spirit.
  9. The Holy Spirit is commissioned to teach and guide us about all things. That includes how to enter into true worship. John 14:26 & 16:13-15
  10. Training is required to produce a lifestyle of continual worship throughout our day.

GOD CANNOT DENY ONE WHO WORSHIPS
“Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon.  And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, ‘Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.’ But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, ‘Send her away, for she cries out after us.’ But He answered and said, ‘I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.’

“Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, ‘Lord, help me!’”

“But He answered and said, ‘It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.’ And she said, ‘Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.’”
“Then Jesus answered and said to her, ‘O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.’ And her daughter was healed from that very hour.’” Matthew 15:21-28

This woman’s worship and faith merged together to leap into the next dispensation and give her the benefits that had not yet come to the Gentiles. How much more should we as God’s very own children expect to have, as we live in continual praise and worship to our Father?

“I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.  My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” Psalm 34:1-4

No one else can worship God for you. David said, “I will bless the LORD at all times …”
“My soul shall make her boast in the LORD …”
Although our soul—mind, will and emotions—is involved in expressing praise and worship, the source of true worship is from the spirit of the born again child of God.

True worship is when a Word-dominated heart overflows with expressions of love and adoration to the Father.

That love that is released to God embraces Him and makes contact with His glorious anointing. His anointing soothes, cleanses, and uplifts the soul, far above the mundane circumstances of this world into the heavenly realm where “every spiritual blessing in Christ” resides.  (Ephesians 1:3)

We know it is His anointing that “destroys yokes and removes burdens” from us.
Isaiah 10:27.

“He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.” John 7:38-39

Jesus has been glorified and the Holy Spirit has been freely given to His children. As we worship Him for all He has done for us, the current in those rivers becomes stronger producing life. This is the root of the abundant life in Christ.

The very first thing Smith Wigglesworth did every morning was to worship God for ten minutes. Those rivers need to be stirred up every morning! And always begin your prayer time with worship.

CASTING CARES: 1 Peter 5:7
Worship helps to pave the way so cares and burdens can easily be cast off and handed over to the Lord who desires to take them. The results are true liberty and trust that He will resolve and restore things for us. True faith dominates ungodly circumstances to see them removed. We boldly declare, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.”  1 John 5:4

WORSHIP GOD IN TRUTH
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
John 14:6

JESUS IS:
  • The Way
  • The Truth
  • The Life

No one can come to the Father without going through Jesus Christ.
No one can worship the Father without going through Jesus Christ.
No one can worship God in spirit and truth without being in Christ Jesus!

All other forms of worship apart from being in Him are vanity and pure idolatry.

Definition of True: valid, genuine, absolute, pure, truthful, correct, right, exact, precise, literal, unquestionable, factual, authentic
Definition of Truth: facts, accuracy, actuality, exactness, trueness
Antonym: false, phony, counterfeit, bogus, imitation, artificial, imaginary, inaccurate, deceit, delusion, error, artificial

OLD TESTAMENT WORSHIP
In Old Testament times Abraham built altars to the Lord and called on His name. This worship required no elaborate priesthood or ritual.

As Israel became a nation after their deliverance from Egypt, God established through Moses the form and principles of Israelite worship. Later, as they occupied the Promised Land and were exposed to pagan rituals, the nation began to practice idolatry, setting up shrines and altars to worship pagan gods.

Of course, severe consequences followed as the hearts of His nation turned away from the living God to seek and worship the counterfeit.

JESUS CHANGED EVERYTHING: NEW TESTAMENT WORSHIP
People who are born of God’s Spirit have been called out of the world and separated as a holy nation to worship God with joy and thanksgiving. True worshippers are very aware and always thankful for the price Jesus paid in taking our place on the cross.

Jesus paid a price He didn't owe for those who owed a price they couldn't pay.

GOD IS SEEKING YOU
Whether we worship God as we assemble together corporately, in private times of devotion, or even doing our daily tasks, we are called to be worshippers.

As we The Church moves forward, let's expect worship to increase and expand into the glory!

The high praises of God increase light and cause demons to flee!
___________________________________________________________

Life Application Suggestions for the End Days Church
“For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh …” Philippians 3:3

Set some time with the Lord to see if there needs to be any correction concerning how you worship. Read over the definition of truth. Allow the Holy Spirit to teach and direct you in how to worship.

The Spirit of Truth vs. The Spirit of Error
1 Corinthians 5:6-8 gives us a look at how easily error spreads from one Christian to another, which can happen even in worship … “for a little leaven leavens the whole lump.”
Be watching, beloved, leaven expands slowly …
____________________________________________________________

PRAYER
Practice praise and worship before asking to be led by the Holy Spirit in prayer.
Take your freedom to worship in fullness: spirit, soul, and body.

"For by one offering He has perfected forever
those who are being sanctified."
Hebrews 10:14

This is Part 4 of a study in Hebrews Chapter 12. This is faith for the last days …

Recap of the Previous Lesson:

Comparisons: Earthly Mountain and Heavenly Mountain
“For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest, and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, so that those who heard it begged that the word should not be spoken to them any more. (For they could not endure what was commanded: "And if so much as a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned or shot with an arrow." And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, "I am exceedingly afraid and trembling.")

“But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.” Hebrews 12:18-22.

Mount Sinai
  • Mt. Sinai is a mountain located in the desert wilderness
  • Moses met God on Mt. Sinai and received His calling to deliver God’s children
  • The children were set free from Egypt
  • Three months later, God makes an appointment to meet the children of Israel at Mt. Sinai
  • They receive their calling, “You shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”
  • Covenant is established: “All that the Lord has spoken we will do.”
  • Mt. Sinai quakes greatly as Almighty God descends on the top of it
  • The top of Mt. Sinai is engulfed in fire, smoke, thunderings, lightnings and the sound of a trumpet blast so loud the people in the camp trembled

Mount
Zion
  • Mount Zion is located in Heaven
  • Every born again child of God has come to Mount Zion, and to God’s city, the Heavenly Jerusalem
  • Innumerable companies of angels are there
  • The general assembly and church of the firstborn live there
  • God the Judge of all resides there
  • Spirits of just men made perfect live there
  • Jesus, Mediator of the New Testament lives there
  • The Blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel resides there

Comparisons: Earth Man and Spirit Man
— 1 Corinthians 15:45-58
  • First man: Adam
  • Last Man: a life-giving Spirit
  • First is the natural, then the spiritual
  • First man: made of earth—made of dust
  • Second Man: Lord from Heaven
  • We have borne the image of the man of dust
  • We shall also bear the image of the Heavenly Man
  • Flesh cannot inherit the Kingdom of God
  • Corruption cannot inherit incorruption
  • Mystery: The change—the rapture of The Church
  • Corruptible must put on incorruption
  • Mortal must put on immortality
  • Then: “Death shall be swallowed up in victory.”
  • Thanks be to God—He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ
  • Be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord

Part 4

HEARING THE HEAVENLY VOICE
“See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven,  whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, "Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven."

“Now this, "Yet once more," indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.

“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

“For our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:29

What does this passage mean in the year 2013?
  • Do not refuse Him who speaks
  • If we turn away from Him who speaks from Heaven to us, we shall not escape the consequences of that decision
  • We are dealing with Almighty God here, the Judge of all
  • He will shake earth and also heaven
  • Shaking will remove things that are made
  • Things that cannot be shaken will remain
  • We are receiving a Kingdom
  • The Kingdom cannot be shaken
  • Have grace
  • Serve God with reverence and godly fear
  • Our God is a consuming fire

What is the Holy Spirit saying to us today?
Time is short! Hear, obey, be watchful.

“If you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
Hebrews 3:15

Hebrews 12:15-17 also warns The Church of sin and to pursue holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.

The reason this exhortation is so important to The Church right now is because the earth has entered into the time frame called “the last days or the end of the age” and the pull of wickedness has increased all around us. Jesus prophesied that one generation would see love decline and lawlessness increase. He also said, “Take heed…watch… pray…”
Read Luke 21:25-36

The Glorious Church has an awesome assignment ahead.
  • In 1960 there were three billion people on earth.
  • In 2013 there are seven billion people on earth.

Jesus could not return until the “fullness of the Gentiles” has come forth. Romans 11:25
Farmers know that all they have done is for the time of the harvest! James 5:7-8

No Couch Potatoes!
Many Christian people, yes Christians, who refuse to hear, will turn away from Him who speaks from Heaven, and fall under the sway of the wicked one. Read 1 John 5:19

This warning from Heaven is not just for baby Christians but also for those who are mature. How could that be? Because those who know much can become lazy and dull of hearing as they rely pridefully on what they have learned in the past. When the scriptures become dull to you, Beloved, watch out!

“Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.

“For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him …”  Hebrews 2:1-3

"Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place; unless you repent.”  Revelation 2:4-5

SEPARATION
“Therefore, ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty.’ Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
See 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 & 7:1

Just like the children of Israel had to be removed from the sin, idolatry and the corruption of Egypt, God is calling His Church in these days to separate from the wickedness that is around us.

Why?

So that we may experience an increase in God’s anointing and power to minister to the lost and “do the greater works.”

Jesus loves the church and gave Himself for her …

“that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25-27

Only God’s Word can wash you inside and out!

Life Application Suggestions
“Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink.

“For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

“But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness. Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.

“And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, ‘The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.’ Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell; nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents; nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

“Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

“Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.”
1 Corinthians 10:1-12

This is Part 3 of a study in Hebrews Chapter 12 ... Faith for the last days.

TWO MOUNTAINS: Earthly and Heavenly
“For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest, and the sound of a trumpet and the voice of words, so that those who heard it begged that the word should not be spoken to them anymore. (For they could not endure what was commanded: ‘And if so much as a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned or shot with an arrow.’ And so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, ‘I am exceedingly afraid and trembling.')

“But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels … Hebrews 12:18-22

Mt. Sinai--Old Testament
Moses experienced his first encounter with God on Mt. Sinai as God revealed Himself in a flame of fire in a bush that was not consumed. "I have surely seen the oppression of My people in Egypt. I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians ..."
See Exodus 3:7-8.

Moses received the call of God on Mt. Sinai to lead the children of Israel out from bondage in Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, a land flowing with milk and honey. Moses was to tell wicked Pharaoh, "… let us go three days journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God." Exodus 3:18

"Let My People Go!" Exodus 5:1
"And Pharaoh said, 'Who is the LORD, that I should obey His voice to let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, nor will I let Israel go.'" Exodus 5:2  In retaliation, Pharaoh showed his contempt for the God of the Hebrews by increasing the oppression and hardship of the children of Israel.

If Egypt is a picture of the sinful world system, Pharaoh is a picture of the devil.

After the final plague of judgment on all the firstborn of Egypt, Pharaoh let God's people go. But later, Pharaoh and his mighty army set out to massacre God’s people. This was to be their last and ultimate encounter with Almighty God. "The Lord will fight for you!" And so it was, for in glorious triumph, "The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!" Exodus 15:1

Three Months Later ...
"In the third month after the children of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on the same day, they came to the Wilderness of Sinai. For they had departed from Rephidim, had come to the Wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness. So Israel camped there before the mountain.

"And Moses went up to God, and the LORD called to him from the mountain, saying, 'Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel:

"You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself. Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.

"And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." Exodus 19:1-6

The children of Israel responded, "All that the Lord has spoken we will do." Then the Lord told the people to consecrate themselves and to be ready for the third day. "For on the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people."   Exodus 19:11

"You shall set bounds for the people all around, saying, 'Take heed to yourselves that you do not go up to the mountain or touch its base. Whoever touches the mountain shall surely be put to death. Not a hand shall touch him, but he shall surely be stoned or shot with an arrow; whether man or beast, he shall not live.' When the trumpet sounds long, they shall come near the mountain.

"So Moses went down from the mountain to the people and sanctified the people, and they washed their clothes. And he said to the people, 'Be ready for the third day; do not come near your wives.'

"Then it came to pass on the third day, in the morning, that there were thunderings and lightnings, and a thick cloud on the mountain; and the sound of the trumpet was very loud, so that all the people who were in the camp trembled.

The Children of Israel Meet God
"And Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. Now Mount Sinai was completely in smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire. Its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked greatly.

"And when the blast of the trumpet sounded long and became louder and louder, Moses spoke, and God answered him by voice. Then the LORD came down upon Mount Sinai, on the top of the mountain. And the LORD called Moses to the top of the mountain, and Moses went up.

"And the LORD said to Moses, "Go down and warn the people, lest they break through to gaze at the LORD, and many of them perish." Exodus 19:12-21

Out of this spectacular encounter with God Almighty came the covenant between the Lord and Israel, including the Ten Commandments. God would have a people, and Israel would have their God. We are thankful for the Israelites, “to whom pertain the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises; of whom are the fathers and from whom, according to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all, the eternally blessed God. Amen.”  Romans 9:4-5

Mount Zion—New Testament
"But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel." Hebrews 12:22-24

What is Mount Zion? In the Old Testament, Zion is the city of David and then expanded in meaning to include Solomon’s Temple. Later it was used for the city of Jerusalem, the land of Judah, and the people of Israel. As time progressed further, the word “Zion” transitioned from referring to the earthly realm to God’s spiritual Kingdom. Revelation 14:1 reveals, “Then I looked, and behold, a Lamb standing on Mount Zion…”

Peter refers to Christ as the Cornerstone of Zion: "Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone, elect, precious, and he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame." 1 Peter 2:6

This is not referring to the foundation of an earthly building, but rather the heavenly building:
“Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone, in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”   Ephesians 2:19-22

When did you come to the city of the living God? When you heard the message of the cross and made a commitment to Jesus Christ and received Him as your Lord and Savior.

The Mystery of The Earthly and The Heavenly Revealed
“And so it is written, ‘The first man Adam became a living being.’ The last Adam became a life-giving spirit. However, the spiritual is not first, but the natural, and afterward the spiritual. The first man was of the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from heaven.

“As was the man of dust, so also are those who are made of dust; and as is the heavenly Man, so also are those who are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man. Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.

“Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed; in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

“For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’

"O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory? The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law.

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
1 Corinthians 15:45-58

LIFE APPLICATION SUGGESTIONS
The Apostle Paul exhorts us not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by …what? The renewing of the mind!  Romans 12:2

Only God’s Word can renew the mind to Kingdom ways.

In light of this study, comparing the earthly and the Heavenly, read through the Who I Am in Christ scriptures slowly and ask yourself, is this scripture pertaining to the earthly realm or the Heavenly? Just click on this link: Who You Are

Saints, did you notice all the prophetic scriptures that were hidden in Exodus, Chapter 19, when Moses introduced the children of Israel to their God?
