The Scepter of Righteousness
“But to the Son He says:
‘Your throne, O God, is forever and ever;
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom.
You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness;
Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You
With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.’” (Hebrews 1:8-9)
A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your Kingdom. This is an amazing insight into God’s hidden ways.
What is a scepter?
A scepter is a staff or rod. Let us try to define what this means to the New Creation Believer on earth. Along with the new birth came your divine and unique purpose that no one else has or can fulfill, similar to the unique thumb print each person has on earth. When you made Jesus your Lord and Savior, He made you the righteousness of God in Himself. All things became new as you found your Beloved.
Vines Dictionary says a scepter is a rod, a staff, is used of Aaron’s rod: a staff used on a journey; a ruler staff; in the book of Revelation it is used as a rod of chastisement; to smite or strike.
Are we then to go forth and beat the lost in to becoming Christians?
Ha, of course not. How then is the scepter of righteousness to be used for the Kingdom of God?
Words!!!
Jesus said the Kingdom of God is in you. When you intercede for the lost and pray for those in government, you release words which have the power to bring change to this natural world. A Believer full of God’s word, operating in the anointing of the Holy Spirit, has dynamic authority and power.
The rod is your right standing in God the Father to make you bold to witness to the lost or is released through powerful intercession.
A once dedicated Christian who is being swept into the seduction of worldliness will eventually let go of their church, Bible Study, and prayer. Some may not be able to break loose of deception and demonic strongholds.
The Apostle Paul warns The Church in 2 Thessalonians 2:3-12:
“Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.”
“And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming. The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”
The Scepter of Righteousness
That rod cannot be effective in the mouth of a backslidden Christian.
When the Word of God is left behind, so also is the power of authority which righteousness stands on!
Saints, many of us have walked with the Lord for decades. We know the power of prayer and intercession. That’s all the more reason for us to guard our hearts against a crafty enemy who wants to hinder us.
Continue to abide in Him 24/7. Continue in prayers of intercession for the time of His return is far closer than when we first began.
Remember your purpose…you’re the Sheriff in town…bind and loose!!!
“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:18-19)
Those keys are in your mouth, Saints!
